Anyone using this route lately for a Cruise on NCL Gem or for whatever reason? Used FF miles for Business Elite, any comments on flight ammenities, etc. First time to Europe, any suggestions when arriving in Venice?

you can hop on the bus or the train into the centre of venice at the airport but from there be prepared to carry or trundle your luggage to your accomodation unless you want to hire a water taxi which are quite expensive suggest if you can download a map to take you to your accomodation from your drop off point you do so as the canals and bridges can be a bit confusing when you first arrive.

There are five ways to get to Venice:

1) Alilaguna. This takes you by boat to San Marco.

2) Water taxi. Takes you anywhere in Venice. (expensive but convenient)

3) ATVO bus. Express bus to the P. Roma. If you use this, make sure you get on the right bus as AtVO runs service to other areas also. The bus will be marked "Venezia." From P Roma you can walk, take a water taxi or a Vaporetto. (water bus with various routes around Venice)

4) CIty bus (ACTV). Not recommended as there is no place for luggage storage.

5) Taxi .. of course, this can not take you into the city itself as there are no roads. It can take you to the port area or P. Roma.

DL Business Elite:

You will likely be on a 767 across the Atlantic. Depending on whether you have one of the reconfigured 400s, you will either get the old cradle seat or the new lie-flat config. If the seat map for your flight shows 6 seats across in business, you have the old config.

You will get SkyClub access at all USA airports, as well as access to the SkyPriority lines at both check-in and security. You will have priority access to check-in and security at VCE on the return as well, along with access to the Alitalia lounge at VCE on the return.

Onboard, you'll get pre-flight beverage, full meal served course by course, desert including ice cream sundaes, breakfast before arrival, noise-reduction headsets, full size pillow in cloth pillowcase, full-size duvet, and amenity kit. Kit includes cabin socks, eyeshade, lip balm, toothbrush and paste, moisturizing cream, comb, earplugs, and tissues. The best part is that the kit makes for a nice bag to carry "stuff" in the future (I use it for computer cables). There's a selection of two whites, two reds, two desert wines and champagne. AVOD with a large selection of movies, music and TV.

You will also get 3 bags at 70lbs each (210lbs total) per person.

We flew Delta from JFK to VCE on April 29th. Flight left 4 hours late, we got to VCE and walked to area just before doors to outsidethe airport there will be windows to buy tickets for Bus. Ask for help. There was a "host" there directing people to the right line. Get ticket and walk outside to wait for bus. Put luggage under bus. If you get a hotel at P.Roma, you will save a lot of money on transport to/from airport and ship.We stayed at the Best Western Olimpia which is less that a block from where the bus stops from the airport and where the shuttle takes you to/from ship. From P.Roma, you can walk to San Marco or go by water. You can walk to the ship, take the shuttle or a land taxi. Our trip back to JFK was supposed to be non stop, but the ash cloud canceled that flight (May 10) and we ended up going later that day to Paris on Air France and then much later on Air France to JFK. The Air France flight was much better for us in coach than the Delta flight. More leg room! I had paid $200 pp more for the non-stop Delta than I would have for the VCE-Paris-JFK, but wish I had gone for the return flight at least on Air France. We were promised $100pp voucher because the flight to VCE was so late, but were given nothing on the plane. Later I called and they said we should have been given a voucher by the flight attendant or someone as we got off plane. I did talk them into giving it to us, but haven't used it yet to be sure it works!
