WestTxCruiser Posted July 14, 2010 Author #81 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Tuesday, A Fun Day At Sea!!! As promised by the Captain last night, the weather was much better today. No rain and lots of sunshine....however it was very windy. Hey, you can't have everything, right? We had our usual morning, my coffee, breakfast at the buffet then Tara went to Camp Carnival. Mike and I got some lounge chairs right in front of the stage area, facing the big screen This would become our spot for the remainder of the day. At 11:30 we got Tara from Camp and she hung out with us the rest of the afternoon. Don't forget the sunscreen folks...... This afternoon was the Ice Carving, we had great seats for this. Being right in front of the stage area we even got hit by flying ice as the guy chipped away at his masterpiece........just remember....don't eat the flying ice chips!! The finished masterpiece, An American Indian The remainder of the afternoon we relaxed, drank buckets of beer, relaxed, drank buckets of beer....you get the point!! WestTxCruiser Posted July 14, 2010 Author #82 Share Posted July 14, 2010 After a relaxing day on the Lido Deck, it was time to get ready for dinner. We had a reservation at The Pointe for 6:30 tonight. I made the reservation online, about a month prior to our sailing, within 24 hours of making the reservation I received a confirmation email confirming our time. Tara went to dinner with Camp Carnival at 6pm tonight, they met in the buffet area by the Aft pool. We didn't think it was worth $30 for her to go to The Pointe with us, and she was fine eating with some of her new friends. Tina and I had a pre-dinner cold beer on the balcony We all dressed up for dinner, since The Pointe is a fine dining experience. Shane wore his suit, but without the tie tonight...he hates the tie! Mike wore a coat and tie and David wore a tie. There were some people who came in while we were there, and I must say that Pam and I just looked at each other.....and we knew what the other one was thinking........shorts, t-shirts and tennis shoes are not appropriate attire for The Pointe......in our opinion. I was really surprised that they allowed that kind of dress.....but it did not take away from our experience.
WestTxCruiser Posted July 14, 2010 Author #83 Share Posted July 14, 2010 If you haven't eaten at The Pointe, I highly recommend that you do it. The food is absolutely wonderful, the presentation is superb, the service is top notch. We loved it and thought it was a steal for only $30 a person. We took a few food porn pictures, which I posted some of them earlier. Here are a few more This one is too good to not post again...this was a special 9 oz Ribeye that had a bunch of different spices on it, it is normally not on the menu. This was the leftovers I ordered the Mashed Potatoes with my Medium Rare Ribeye and the Three Peppercorn Sauce. The steak was cooked to perfection, the potatoes almost killed me, they were so good!!! Part of the potato thing could have been the fact that we had not been eating ANY potatoes for a couple of months before we cruised.....that diet thing. So I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I took that first bite, and add some of the Peppercorn Sauce to it, YUMMY YUMMY!! For dessert I had the Cheesecake I don't remember what this dessert was called, maybe Chocolate Delight, or it could also be referred to as Death By Chocolate.....take your pick Oh, and just FYI......we were all refined drinkers tonight, nobody had a bottle of beer on the table. We had wine or mixed drinks and iced tea. Thats a biggie for us beer drinkin' Momma's!! After dinner we changed clothes and headed to the Lido Deck for the Deck Party. The Mickey Utley Band was playing and some people were dancing. We however, were too stuffed to even move, let alone attempt to dance. I couldn't even drink a beer I was so stuffed!! We ended up calling it a night before the Deck Party even started. Tomorrow is Jamaica, Mon!!

Cindy Posted July 14, 2010 #85 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Woo Hoo! I jumped on the computer for lunch bunch, and the first thing I see is more of your review! Oh and they said the gym was VERY crowded. We thought the gym was very undersized for the passenger capacity of the ship, especially since they have so much of it set up for "revenue opportunities." We all dressed up for dinner, since The Pointe is a fine dining experience. I'm with you! I'm one of those people who doesn't like the relaxed dress codes in the main dining room and specialty restaurant. I dress nicely for dinner anyway, and I do think some of the really sloppy attire is inappropriate. It doesn't ruin my enjoyment, but it does make the experience a little less special. JMHO.

WestTxCruiser Posted July 14, 2010 Author #87 Share Posted July 14, 2010 Wednesday, Montego Bay, Jamaica We arrived in Jamaica about 30 minutes late, but we were given an extra 30 minutes on the island, so no biggie. We decided to do the Sunset Beach Resort. It is an all inclusive....food, alcohol, beach and pool. $60 per adult, $40 per child. We had to the pay the adult price for our 15 year old son.....guess somebody told them how much he eats!!! We have been here before and it is just a short cab ride from the port and we felt very safe here. I know that a lot of folks do not like Jamaica and will not even get off the ship, but we love it and have never felt unsafe. However......we did tell all the girls ahead of time....just to be safe.....they could not go anywhere without us. Arriving into MoBay We think Jamaica is a beautiful island We get off the ship and of course they have the camera crew waiting for that shot. We go through the terminal area to get a taxi. There were 11 of us,.....a couple from Kansas who we met at the hot tub on Monday joined us....they were on their honeymoon We asked before we got in the taxi how much, we were told $4 per person to Sunset Beach. It was a quick 5 minute ride to SB. We had a great taxi driver. We told him to pick us up about 3, he said he would be there by 2:30....just in case. We went through a gate and are taken through the resort to a game room to pay our money and get armbands. The resort is very clean and it wasn't very crowded at all. The dining room opened for lunch at 12, there was also a snack bar area where you could get hamburgers, hot dogs etc. The food in the dining room was set up buffet style with different stations. Tons of stuff to choose from, so if you didn't like something....try something different. There were several bars throughout the resort and also on the beach to get your drinks. They had Red Stripe and Red Stripe Light, on tap. I am not much of a tap beer drinker so I drank mostly the foo foo drinks...which were very good! Marcy got a massage on the beach, I believe it was 30 minutes for $40. Tina and I went to the Spa and got a massage, they gave us a little discount for having 2 people.....it was $65 each for 45 minutes. It was a great massage too!! Tina said it was the best she had ever had. We went back and forth from the beach to the pool. Going down the waterslide, floating in the lazy river, sipping on drinks, eating......Awwww.....life is good!! For those who might be interested, they do have a topless beach area at Sunset Beach. If you go over there....you have to be topless......I do NOT know this firsthand....I was told.:o

WestTxCruiser Posted July 14, 2010 Author #92 Share Posted July 14, 2010 I almost forgot about this, (she will probably kill me for putting it in here, but it was such a memory). Sorry babe!:p;) Tina was playing in the ocean at SB right after we got there, when all of a sudden she almost became one of those topless people on the beach. The hook on her bathing suit top broke. I see this look of panic in her eyes and run to her aid. Realizing what had happened ,we grabbed a towel for a quick coverup. Then off to the gift shop in search of a bathing suit. Not much to choose from, in our size anyway.....lots of itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini sizes...but not ours. :( $48 later we found her one that would work for the day. Crisis averted, time for a drink!!

WestTxCruiser Posted July 15, 2010 Author #96 Share Posted July 15, 2010 After our fun in the sun, food and drinks it's time to move on down the road. Our driver was there waiting for us when we were ready to leave. When you leave Sunset Beach, you go back out the same way you come in, through a gate. They cut your armband off, and give you back your Sail and Sign card......which I forgot to mention that they keep it while you are at the resort...not sure why, but that is what they do. So don't forget to get it, or you might miss the ship!! Now it is off to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville!! Our driver parked across the street from Margaritaville, where we got this pic Then he walked into the street to stop traffic for us to cross....good thing cuz they got some CRAZIE drivers there!! We found a table on the outside patio area where we could see the people who were brave enough to shoot out of the waterslide into the ocean. Tina and Olivia took the plunge. Only problem was....Tina lost her glasses. The guy at the top of the slide told her to take them off and hold them, but he forgot to tell her NOT to let go of them. I'm not sure why she was smiling in this pic cuz when she got out of the water she was in a state of panic. They were her prescription sunglasses, cost about $250. So Shane goes in to see if he can try and find them, but he gets yelled at by the waterslide guy. Then a Catamaran pulls up to the dock right by us and they heard that someone had lost their glasses. So these two guys put their masks on and dive in.....and low and behold, they found them. Tina was so happy, she was almost in tears. Mike tipped the guy!! TMWTim Posted July 15, 2010 #97 Share Posted July 15, 2010 Awesome review and pics!! We have been on the Conquest to Jam/GC/Coz two times and LOVE Jamaica! Beautiful island and always a good time. I would NEVER stay on the ship in Jamaica!
WestTxCruiser Posted July 15, 2010 Author #98 Share Posted July 15, 2010 And what would Margaritaville be without the bar dancers Hmmm....do we know the one in the red??? It was fun, LOUD, but fun.....and I was glad we were outside since we had the kids with us....not that Shane would have minded seeing some of those girls. We left Margaritaville and walked a few doors down to the Harley Shop. Our driver was waiting across the street for us, said No Problem Mon, plenty of time. We gathered our Harley memorabilia and began to leave the store when the newlywed girl that was with us said....."I'm gonna pass out." She wasn't kidding, her eyes rolled back in her head and she was hittin' the deck. Her husband was behind her and caught her. When she started to come to, unfortunately she started barfing....I know TMI.....sorry....skip over this part if you want....but its a good story. So Marcy looks at me and says.......we gotta get her something to wear, cuz she can't get in the cab like that. There was a little shop next door to the Harley shop and all the workers there had come out to help us. We told the one lady we needed something cheap. So we go in and find a little dress, $20. They also had a bathroom that they let us use so she could clean up and change her clothes. Poor girl was so humiliated, a Jamaican dude told her...."hey.....yesterday it was me, today it is you....tomorrow it be somebody else...no problem mon". Gotta love Jamaica!! While we were helping her change, Mike told me it was like an assembly line out there on the sidewalk....said people came out of stores with buckets of water and mops and nobody ever knew what had happened. When we came out, all was clear and our driver had pulled the cab over to pick us up. We think it was a combination of too much alcohol, not enough food and overheating that made her sick. :( She was a sweet girl, I'm glad we were there to help her out cuz I think her husband would have freaked out if we hadn't been.
