casino - take cash, credit card, debit card?

First time cruiser on a 7 day Mediterranean cruise. I like to play slot machines but don't know if I should take all cash for casino use, or use credit card or debit card on ship and get cash as needed for playing?

I'm an eternal optimist - hoping to hit a little jackpot! :)

We always use cash for gambling....if it's gone...it's gone. There's no way I'd charge gambling expenses...and I'd hate to risk my checking account, just in case I got "carried away"....cash is best, and costs nothing... no fees at all.

Thanks for your quick response - I'm sorry, I didn't phrase my question very well - I was aking from more of a safety/theft and carrying a lot of cash point of view as opposed to spending more than allocated.

What I meant was, if I plan to allocate, for example, $1500 for casino gambling, would it be better to take all of it in cash and keep it in the safe, or just some in cash and the remainder using debit/credit as needed to avoid loss or theft? (I'm very disciplined in my gambling, and only spend what I have allocated to myself and no more - learned that in my many Vegas trips :):):))

Many cruise lines charge a fee for using a credit card or charging your room card in the casino. You can cash a check at the Pursers for free.

Thank You! That's a perfect solution. :D :D :D

Taking a check and cashing with the purser will work well for me - I wasn't aware I could cash a check - I will check in advance of my cruise with NCL to see if I need to arrange for cashing a check.

Good luck on your 7th continent! What an accomplishment! They should throw a party for you on your cruise :D :D :D

Thank you , SteveH - for the info - that is a good option; I wasn't aware I NCL gave us that option.

Also - bravo to your sentiments below your signature - daughter is a teacher, and husband was a soldier, not the current war, but Vietnam - many of us owe much to those folks who so often go unrecognized for their sacrifrices and dedication - teachers and soldiers alike......

If you can read this - thank a teacher

If you are reading this in English - thank a soldier

OK - kick Zeus near the bar and play Zeus near the exit to the theatre....

I wish you much good luck on future cruise and play.

My husband is convinced we'll be so tired after the excursions and jet lag that we'll never make it to the casino - HAH - I can sleep and play at the same time. :D:D
