Bore Tide August 9 or 10

thanks, both sights were perfect for what we needed to know.

We found the time at Windy Point then watched from Beluga Point on July 14. It was about 45 minutes earlier than the Windy Point time. While we were waiting there were Belugas feeding in the low tide channels. Very easy to see from the road. They were just south of the rock outcropping very close to shore. Behind us, on the cliffs were a nanny and kid Dall sheep browsing on the lichen. We also saw eagles nearby.:D

The bore tide was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen! Not only the wave of water that comes in, but the whirlpools created by the water rushing out and in at the same time. I strongly recommend Beluga Point . Get there early though, because there are many others that find this the best place to watch. Be careful, some "uninformed" tourists ventured out on the silt, finding themselves in "quicksand". One lady told me that a woman died there last year b/c she got stuck. It is like concrete and the tide came in so fast, she couldn't be pulled out before it drowned her.:(
