Port Of Miami & Valor Pics??

You could probably drop off your luggage and sight see but I definitely would advise against it. First of all, the area around the ship is a mad house. Many people will be exiting from the prior crusie while others will be extering for the next cruise. There will be luggage every where and will be several rows deep. From about noon on, lines will be forming and people will be milling around every where.

The port of Miami is really congested since on some days there could be several ships parked next to each other with 2,000 to 3,000 people coming and going. The port, itself, is always under construction and the roads are a mess. It has been that way for several years and has never improved. You will easily see the ships. You just won't be able to get to them and the road system changes from year to year. The Miami Port Authority police will be milling around trying to do all they can to get you out of the area even if it means sending you out before you drop off your luggage. It is a game they all play. They know how to get you out. They just don't know how to get you to the ship.

Don't get fooled by the new parking facility. That was going to be the answer to the conjestion problem. Not true! They fill up and then you are on your own. You have to pay cash and they don't accept credit cards. (Welcome Miami to the 18th century.)

My advise, if you are going to do the sight seeing anyway, would be to do it in the early morning without any luggage drop off. Then take your chances in the afternoon. Good luck!

By the way, if this sounds rather drastic that is because boarding the ship is usually just that.

I was at the port last weekend, and you could do this if you wanted to spend the money...once you see the porters put your baggae in the green bin, you're all set...we got to the port at 11:30, and could have left...if you're driving yourself, just follow the taxis and check your luggage with the porters then drive away...you'll have 2 or 3 hours to check stuff out...if the weather would have been nice we would of headed to south beach for a few hours and then headed to the ship around 3:30 to board once almost everyone else was on...althought if you're driving as the other posters said you may be SOL on parking...
