Casino?

Recommended Posts

DH and I are sailing on the crown princess in a couple of weeks to the British Isles. I have heard the casino has very limited hours because of England's restrictions. Does anyone know how many evenings the casino is actually available? We have never been to Ireland or Scotland before and are really looking forward to this cruise. Thanks for any info.

The ship has to be 12 miles from land for the casino to open, which is quite a rare thing on this cruise. Coming out of Belfast, ready to head north to Scotland, the ship will turn south, and play about in the area of sea between Ireland and the Isle of Man, heading north again around midnight. We watch this happen with each cruise liner, on shipsmap AIS, after being surprised when it happened to us, when we almost came in sight of our home!

There will be other times, I'm sure, when they'll pull out to sea like that, perhaps round the north of Scotland.

Thank you Jocap, for this information. I thought I had read about this on another post. This is a disappointment as we enjoy the casino onboard. On our last cruise to the Panama Canal, we played every evening and my DH won enough to pay off our onboard credit card, which included our excursions. However, I made my donation to the penny slots.

Maybe we will try our luck at Bingo. I'm sure it will be a lovely cruise, as always.

Enjoy the views as you come from Dublin, Belfast, Greenock and Edinburgh. The last 2 have long journeys down sea lochs. We stand high up at the front of the ship, as she sails down the Clyde, looking out for the Isle of Arran, and lots of other little isles.

Coming down the Firth of Forth, you should be able to see the Royal yacht, Britannia, in a little dock all by herself. Much further down the loch, you'll pass Bass Rock. a volcanic pile, which looks white- it's the biggest gannetry in the world, with over 100,000 birds. I never moved for 2 hours....take glasses!

Enjoy!

Cruised last week on Ocean Princess and the casino was only open one night. It wasn't advertised in advance and many disappointed fans crowded the area. Just be sure to get any funds off your card before the casino closes. We weren't told about this and now are waiting for a check from the company. For some reason they can't credit it to your room account. Wish us luck with that!

Enjoy your trip. It was one of the most memorable cruises we've ever been on.

We watched Crown Princess on AIS doing this move, so that the casino could enter. Had to break off, and go out to see the World of Residencia pass in between my window and the Isle of Man, whilst CP was playing around on the opposite side of the Island.
