Just heard about the jet and the eagle on the news this morning.

Happened 2 or 3 times a years when we lived in Ketchikan. We had a little Filipina ramp serivce agent that would crawl up in the engine cowling and pluck the feathers and other eagle parts out of the jet engine turbine fins.

that was close. What if it struck after plane took off? Can plane sustain the flight with single engine?

Yes, however the plane will return to the airport and that does cause anxious moments.
