On Thomson's trip information it states 'big bags may not be allowed in St Peter's'. Does anyone know what size bags would be allowed, my o/h wants to take his camera bag but is worried he may not be allowed inside with it, I said it would probably refer to big rucksacks but want to be sure he would be disappointed not to be allowed in. Keep thinking of new things to ask about! Getting nearer now.

Not sure about the 'how big' bit - but my DH definitely took his camera into St Peter's (presumably in it's bag?) because you are allowed to take photos inside which did surprise us.

Hi - We were there 2 weeks ago and had a standard hand luggage size back pack and also a standard camer bag and they passed through the scanner with no problem. please also be aware to go into the Basilica and Sistine Chapel you will need to have your shoulders and knees covered. Have fun! :)
