Bristol Posted August 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Anyone who has spent time in Paris recently have any restaurant suggestions? Is anything reasonably priced? Are there any good restaurants near the Hotel Meridien? Are there boards for specific River cruises like there are for ocean cruises.
zoncom Posted August 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Go to your public library, get some Paris and France books. I like Frommers and Fodors. Also look up info on their websites plus Trip Advisor. Only you know what kind of food you prefer.
Needzavacation Posted August 29, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2010 Here are a few that we've liked year after year after year -- each at a different price point: * Relais de l'Entrecote: Very traditional steak-and-frites (fries) restaurant -- I don't think there's anything else on the menu! The food is delicious and reasonably priced, but they don't take reservations. There's sometimes a line out the door, but if you get there early enough, there's usually not a long wait. http://www.relaisentrecote.fr/uk/index.html * Rotisserie d'en Face: This is the baby bistro of Jacques Gagna. The prices are reasonable, the menu is reasonably familiar, and they're friendly to Americans with an English-speaking staff. http://www.jacquescagna.com/usardf.htm * Les Bouquinistes: This may be a little more of a splurge -- it's the baby bistro of Guy Savoy. The crowd tends to be a little more smartly dressed, and the food and menu are wonderful. There are always enough servers who speak English and can help with any menu translations. It's located on the quai across from Notre Dame, which is beautifully lit at night. http://www.lesbouquinistes.com/en/accueil. It's very easy to get around Paris using the Metro. In general, it's about one minute between Metro stops, so that helps you to allot the time you need for travel.

When we were in Paris, we found that there are wonderful small restaurants with a 3 course special for the day posted on boards outside the restaurants. They were very affordable meals, authentic cuisine and we thoroughly enjoyed them.
