dancergrl608 Posted August 30, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 30, 2010 We have a family member who's sister said that the luggage tags are torn off of the luggage by the cruise workers and then you are given new tags before disembark. We are trying to find out whether this is the truth or not because she told everyone to not worry about laminating the luggage tags due to this happening. Even though we have told her there have been plenty of people on this board who have either lamiated the tags or used packing tape on them. Please shed some truth on this situation!!! It would make no sense, and plenty of extra work, for the cruise workers to tear off the luggage tags. The tags they give you for disembarkation are something completely different and have nothing to do with your original luggage tags. We're leaving on the Pride on the 12th and when we recently took our luggage down from the attic, the luggage tags that we laminated for our last cruise, last September on the Victory, were still on the luggage. Laminate the tags and enjoy your cruise! :)

The tags you print as part of your fundocs are for embarkation. The tags for debarkation are different tags that are supplied on the last (or possibly prior...it was only last week but I forget) day. These are different tags and and important as to when and where your bags come out. If you are doing self assisted debarkation (carrying your bags off yourself) you can disregard the whole process. ostrrich Posted August 30, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 30, 2010 I just got off the 8/21 dream. I used laminated tags and they were not removed. I removed them myself and added the 'zone' tags for disembarkation

The tags you print have bar codes on them to assist with getting your luggage to you a bit faster. The only way the porters would remove and replace them is if they were too damaged to stay on or by passenger request.
