Sports Dr Posted February 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 14, 2005 Each of the 27 members who signed up for Meet and Mingle received a personal invite card from RCCL indicating the time on Mon Feb7 ( a sea day). RCCL was there with gifts, plenty of snacks, comraderie, etc. But only 3 bothered to show up. I could tell RCCL was not happy. I guess I just can't figure out people who say they are going to do something, but don't. It was very embarrassing. Why waste everyone's time by signing up and then inventing some sorry excuse not to show up? It was a fantastic cruise, from 11am (we were the first on) until we left. Hats off to the friendly staff of the Radiance, but a lump of coal for the M&M no-shows.
TrentS Posted February 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2005 That's sad... And I'm sure that those people will be the ones who complain the loudest when RCI does away with the Meet & Mingle!
Cruisin Together Posted February 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2005 Weren't you at Coco Cay that day? Maybe they were having way to much fun on the island?
Sports Dr Posted February 15, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted February 15, 2005 We were at sea all day. It was nice to meet Nyco who was wondering the same things as us.
CGAGE Posted February 15, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 15, 2005 Hey SportsDr...I'll shamefully take my lump of coal! I had it in my head (according to the confirmed list of M&M's on CC) that the official Meet and Mingle was on Tuesday when we were in Labadee. I did get the invitation delivered to the cabin...but honestly I didn't pay much attention to the date. I simply knew that it was at 3:00 in the Starquest on the day we were in Haiti. I pranced my sunburned butt up there at 3:00, only to find the Scrapbooking going on. They told me it was the day before and sure enough when I actually read the invite...it said the 7th and not the 8th. I was so disappointed...I almost cried! Believe me...after all the posts for our Roll Call...and all the communication...and trying to find an alternative to the 8th...I REALLY wanted to be there...and especially to meet you and your family. I kinda felt like we communicated the most out of everbody! So...with all that said...I apologize...PROFUSELY!!! It sounds like you all had as great a time as we did! Out of all our cruises...this was in the top 3 of all time! What were the highlights for you? How was the Days Inn? Who knows...maybe we met and we don't even know it! I look forward to your response!
Sports Dr Posted February 15, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted February 15, 2005 Hi Carrie... Thanks for showing enough character to respond. I really felt bad for the RCCL reps who had trays of oer d'oerves (caviar, salmon) I know it took some work to search out our rooms and deliver a personal invite. Anyway, I agree.. a great cruise made even better because of the great weather. We liked the Dunns Falls waterfall walk, 7 mile beach, and enjoyed getting half-tuned in Margaritaville and Carlos and Charleys. Days Inn north was okay for a night. The airport shuttle was timely and the pier shuttle was actually early. Take care.
emilygrace Posted February 15, 2005 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2005 I wouldn't be at all surprised if RCL phased out the M&Ms. Each time I've gone to one there has only been a handful of people attending. Some people complain about how "lame" the M&Ms are, but it's the guests who make or break it. I hate seeing the RCL employees watching the door and asking if we think there will be any more showing up. On our Jewel cruise last September they ended up giving the prizes from the raffle to all of us since there were so few of us. They noted our stateroom #s and the prize showed up there before the end of the cruise. And this was from a really active thread!!! I haven't found any other CCers for my Alaskan cruise on the Serenade, so I'm going to pass on even signing up this time.
Wakka Posted February 16, 2005 #8 Share Posted February 16, 2005 I was on the "Beautiful" Jewel this past September. I had a great time at the M&M. Usually I don't do well in raffles so getting something just for showing up was a treat! Remember its the quality of the people not quanity of the people that make M&M's great! Happy Sailings:)
