San Juan - Taxi Question

We will be staying at the San Juan Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino in late October for our cruise on the Golden Princess. How much can we expect to pay for tax from the airport to the hotel and then from the hotel to the pier?

Also any review on the hotel?

We stayed at the Marriott in January 2004. The hotel is beautiful and well situated in the Condado area. The beach is Ok but we found the water rather rough (lots of breaking waves) might be typical of January. The pool area is fantastic. We had buffet breakfast every morning at the hotel. If you can go to the Tusacany restaurant- same as other restaurant but more relaxing. Our breakfast was included in the price of the room. Otherwise it's a bit pricey $15.00 per person.

Taxis - I vaguely remember paying abour $16.00 from the airport to the hotel. From the hotel to the pier, I do not remember.

If you would like to go to Old San Juan it is very easy. On Ashford boulevard, there's a bus for 0.25 will bring you teh bus terminal in Old San Juan. Well worth it !!

We too were there in Jan04....we had a great room, overlooking the pool area and on to the beach. Salsa band was quite lively and the casino packed on a Fri night. Lots of security present (in a good way). Very friendly bellstaff, helping with luggage and hailing cab.

We had 4 adults with LOTS of luggage. I remember it being like $18 from airport and another $18 to the pier. They have taxi 'handlers' at the airport and pier that calculate the fare based on pax and bags. It is written down and given to the driver.

Be sure to take Street Name for hotel. We told driver Marriott Beach Hotel Casino, he acted as if there were two or three fitting that description.

We found the walk on the beach very relaxing the morning before we left for the pier.

Jan04 -> Oct05 is a long time, but I would describe this hotel as a solid Marriott, doubt things will have changed much. Good choice.
