Rum Cakes

Years ago, while on Grand Cayman, we bought an amazing rum cake - Captain Rackham's Calypso Coconut Rum Cake. I only bought the one because I didn't think I would like rum cake - wish I had bought many more. :)

 

We will not be going to Grand Cayman on our upcoming cruise so I wanted to ask if anyone knows of other islands that might also sell rum cakes?

You can get Tortuga run cake at a lot of ports as well as on ship. It's very delicious.

 

Where exactly are you going? That might help us tell you where some shops are to buy it.

I'll be going to Aruba, Curacao, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Croix, Grenada and Barbados. I thought I might have a good chance in Barbados.

 

It was such a big thing in Grand Cayman, I wasn't sure if it was also popular on other islands.

DW and I got a rum cake when we were on the Fascination in the Bahama's. Not nearly as good as Blackbeards in GC

You can buy these at Lowe's Foods, World Market, and several other places right here at home. Of course, I didn't discover this 'til after I'd schlepped them all the way home.

 

The real kicker: They're cheaper here at home.

You can also make them at home. They aren't difficult to make, but do tend to disappear quickly. :D

And you can buy them online and have them delivered. I loved the rum cakes as well and, just like you, don't typically like this type of thing. So yummy!
