Spirit Question

Can someone who is familiar with the Spirit tell me where various dance venues might be found? We are first timers on NCL (so obviously first time on the Spirit). It looks like Maharini's Lounge and Nightclub might be an option? If that is the case, do you have to enter through the casino:( or is there another entrance? Also, what types of music come with the various venues?

Any information for a newbie will be appreciated.

Maharini's Nightclub can only be entered through the casino. While there are side entrances from the Promenade Deck, only the crew use those to get to the stairwell or to go outside on deck to smoke. (They are not allowed to in the lounge.)

Up in the Galaxy of the Stars they usually have live band entertainment in the early evening and then it shuts down about 11PM. You can dance in the middle there, there's a small dancefloor there too.

Maharini's Lounge is more of the disco feel so depends on the dance vibe you're looking for.

We are not into disco and wading through the slots and tables and heavy smoke (no dig intended - very allergic), is not our idea of a fun evening. Thanks for the 'heads up' on that. We will look into the Galaxy (11 PM is plenty late for us) and ask around for other options.

We loved dancing at Champagne Charlie's every evening. There was a husband and wife combo who played and sang what I call dance music - nice slow stuff, waltzes, a slow cha cha, or rumba. Lots of mushy stuff. They played every evening, seems like it was 5 to 8 because we would have a drink and dance before dinner and come back afterward for a little while. It is not a large dance area but it was fine for us.

That's Arvid and Emily, and they are terrific.

DW and I will definitely check out Champagne Charlie's and Arvid and Emily. Sounds nice. DW's sister and her husband from CT will be with us. Dan not so much for dancing, however, Ginger will enjoy a twirl around the floor and DW won't mind. We will check with Arvid and Emily to see if they can do a bolero tune which will satisfy our need for an Argentine Tango or two each evening. Can't wait, but we gotta!

Does anyone know if they play CD music between sets? We may be able to sneak in some AT music and dance while they take a break?

Hi Kay I am from L.R. also. Went on the Spirit last Nov. and really enjoyed it. friendliest and best crew on any ship I have been on. Thinking about going on her again.I won the cruise in Nov, and would gladly take that one again.I live out between Alexander and Bryant.Emily and Arvin are great and sing all sorts of songs.I think they are fromPuerto Rico. I am wondering if Jo El Sonnier is still on there with his group singing the cajun music. They were great. My husband became friends with his guitar player and we spent a lot of time with him talking about his life and life living in N.O. Was a great experience.

I tried to delete#2 and couldn't. Oh well

Arkansasnanny, this is Ray on the boards - Kay gets on when I am there to prompt her. I know the feeling of trying to delete - haven't found the key, as yet. Doesn't matter - it probably provides humor to someone.

We live in central Little Rock and this will be our first time on NCL - usually cruise with HAL, but the Dec 5 out of NOLA was at a price that you couldn't ignore. Besides, we needed a getaway at this time. Will be joined by Kay's sister and her husband from CT. Picking them up at the NO airport on Friday the 3rd and having a couple of NOLA days before sailing on Sunday. First time out of NOLA, also.

Do Arvid and Emily play sets? If so, do you remember the times? We love to dance and want to use every opportunity that is available.

Good to visit with you on the boards.
