Best directions to NY Pier from Hartford

From Hartford should I take 84 to 684 to SawMill Pkwy/Henry Hudson Pkwy OR do I stay on 684 to Hutchinson River Parkway/Cross County Pkwy/SawMill Pkwy/Henry Hudson. So confusing. Same mileage/same approx time. Google directs one way/Mapquest the other. Thank you.

Personally, I hate I84 west to I684. I always go the other way - I91 south to the Wilbur Cross which becomes the Merritt to the Hutchinson River to the Cross County to the Saw Mill River to the Henry Hudson. This route is cars only from the start of the Wilbur Cross.

Yes that is the best way stay on the Henry Hudson it becomes the West Side Hwy and takes you right to the pier.
