meg29 Posted October 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 6, 2010 We are sailing on the Artemis next year. P & O brochure states Jackets for men on informal nights. Do most men wear a jacket or would long sleeve shirt with tie suffice.

annieuk Posted October 7, 2010 #6 Share Posted October 7, 2010 When we were on Oriana we saw a man in one of the bars - I think it was the Crows Nest - being turned away on a Semi-Formal or Informal evening because he didn't have a jacket on. Passengers on Artemis usually follow the dress code - they did when we were on her last year. Also although a tie isn't strictly required on an Informal evening, many men wore one. LibraLass41 Posted October 7, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 7, 2010 My husband wears a dinner suit (tux) on formal, and takes two suits for semi formals a summer suit and a nice grey one with assorted ties and shirts. He would wear what you mention long sleeved shirt - say a ben sherman striped one with trousers on a SMART casual night. Or short-sleeved ofcourse in hot climes. Merlin7 Posted October 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted October 7, 2010 Equally acceptable on semi formal/informal evenings, is a jacket and trousers. No need for a suit. In warmer climes particularly, a linen or lighweight jacket and trousers is very comforable, as oppposed to a suit, unless a lightweight one, which can easily be purchased at any stop on a Med. Cruise.
meg29 Posted October 8, 2010 Author #9 Share Posted October 8, 2010 Thanks for all your responses. Didn't want to pack an extra jacket if it was not neccessary, but obviously it is. Thanks again.
