Lisa-UK Posted October 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 12, 2010 Hello all I apologise if this has been covered before, but where else except the Windjammer could we get a bite to eat after boarding - first day? I hear the Windjammer (called Logjammer, in one review :D) can be a bit of a nightmare. If this is the case, we will avoid and go somewhere else..... We are on the 23rd October sailing - yay! Thanks in advance.

Hobiecat01 Posted October 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2010 Try the Park Cafe. Their roast beef sandwiches are...WOW! They also have salads, etc. Not many people go there as soon as they get on the ship. Most folks hit the Windjammer. As soon as folks find the Park Cafe, it gets as crowded as the Windjammer and getting one of those roast beef sandwiches gets pretty tough later in the week. There's also Johnny Rockets and several other eateries on the Boardwalk. But first... get on the ship, go to any elevator lobby and use the touch screen display to find the restaurants you wish to visit and see if they are open and graphically how full they are. Green is OK, Yellow a bit crowded and Red is FULL! That way you can see how full a restaurant is before walking the length of the ship and finding it crowded. You will be amazed by this ship. She is magnificent!! Have a great cruise! ---------------------- Sea ya! EVALUATOR Posted October 12, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2010 I would go to Park Cafe in Central Park Try the Park Cafe. Their roast beef sandwiches are...WOW! They also have salads, etc. Not many people go there as soon as they get on the ship. Most folks hit the Windjammer. It was packed when we went there just after boarding started. People were lined up out the door, and nowhere to sit. About an hour after boarding starts, things quieted down a little.

Langley Cruisers Posted October 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted October 12, 2010 The Windjammer is full, obviously, because people board and go to the WJ as a "default" location for lunch. Also, some of them just "hang" until the rooms are ready at 1 pm. Once the cabins are available, the Windjammer's congestion eases. If you go to the WJ, just keep moving until you find an empty table. We "thought" it seemed small and congested but really, you just keep going further back and there is loads of room. It goes all the way around in a "U" shape. Every single meal we ate there, we never had to wait for a table. Ever. But yes, the Park Cafe is also open and I think the Boardwalk Bar is too; I remember DH and DS getting a corn dog before we even set sail.
