What area to book hotel at in Fort Lauderdale?

It's up to what you want to do. First Q is whether you want to be on the beach. If that's not a priority, a lot of people stay in 17th street seaport/airport area hotels. Others prefer to stay further out for $ savings. There's also Las Olas/downtown, which has excellent shopping and food options.

You didn't mention beach so look for downtown and/or Las Olas. There is only one hotel ON Las Olas Blvd...the 3 1/2 star Riverside Hotel. Las Olas has specialty shops and many restaurants and bars to choose from. 17th st has some chain restaurants. Some "last minute" stores.

Both 17th St and Las Olas are in walking distance of water taxi stops.

We will be at Extended Stay America on 17th in 2 weeks for the 3rd time. It is a basic place to stay and quite reasonable. There is shopping nearby. The water taxi is a 10 minute walk. Nice restaurants, also. It is about $15-20 from airport and $10-15 to the ship by taxi. We are also renting a car from Budget, across the street, to get out on Friday night and Saturday morning. Last time, we returned the car on Sat. and they gave us a free shuttle to the ship.
