Cagliari, Sardinia: Private Tours

Has anyone booked a private tour in Cagliari, Sardinia? Any information would be appreciated.

The same is true for cruise line shore excursions out of Cagliari. Any suggestions for a day tour?

Many thanks.

I dont know what cruise line you are on-but we were there this summer with RCI-we took a ships tour that went to a very nice beach area about an hour and a half from the port-got to see lots of the country side-gave us two hours at a nice beach-then stopped on return at a very very nice vineyard for wine tasting-a cheese making demonstration, and snacks of the cheese in various stages of aging, local salami's and bread. While we generally prefer private tours-this went far enough from the ship to make us feel more comfortable on a ships excursion-the beach was very nice-although we did see a couple of jelly fish in the water-the tour price included chairs and an umbrella, cold drinks as well as the wine and cheese-it was very enjoyable-and the vineyard was beautiful-our only complaint is that RCI should have limited the size of the group or run two tours one each way -one going first to the vineyard and then the beach-to make the group smaller.

Thanks so much for the message. We are on Independence of the Seas and I did see that tour on the RCI website -- it was one that I am considering and will pass along your comments to the rest of my group.

David, we were in Cagliari on Adventure of the Seas last week, and as we are not particularly 'cultural', we decided to have a look around the shops first then we did the Segway Tour with NewWaySardinia...

What a fantastic couple of hours we had and so much fun. We had never been on a Segway before, but after a little instruction - and passing a competence test - we were soon off up into the town and beyond. We were provided with an audio tour which played music to us too (headphone and walkman type thing which clipped on). We did stop at various interesting points with information coming through the earpiece, but the highlight was the view from the very top - simply stunning and we got some great photos !!!

We had a lovely girl that gave us the training and test down at the portside. Then we had another lovely girl and a great guy who took us on the tour - all really friendly and nice people !!!

We are definitely going to do this again next July when we stop on our Indy cruise - but we shall do the 'Poetta Beach' Segway Tour then and hopefully the longer one - as it really was so much fun !!!

We have just returned from the Transatlantic on the Silhouette. Cagliari, Sardinia was one of the ports. We used Paola Loi (paola@mmv.net) as a private guide. I highly recommend her. Her English is excellent and she gave us a very thorough tour.
