Walking from the Outer Mole to Fort Zachary Taylor??

How far is it from the Outer Mole to Fort Zachary Taylor? Can we walk it? Directions would be extremely helpful!! Thanks!

You will need to take the shuttle from the ship... the Outer Mole is military property and civilians cannot stroll around there. Once you get to shore, the walk to Ft Zach is not bad, but from the gate to the beach is still a hefty walk...probably about a quarter to third of a mile, if I had to guess.

Just got back from there - the shuttles now drop people off by the entrance to the base. Zachary Taylor park is quite nice, and you can view the fort from the other side if you walk all the way around.
