Carnival newbie questions.

This will be my first carnival trip. Could you please answer a few questions.

1. What is the daily auto tipping charge per person?

2. Does carnival have a soad or ulimited card like Princess?

3. Can you send yourself OBC?

4. We will sail out of Orlando. Have anyone done Disney or US prior to cruise? If so, what did you do for transportation?

Thanks,

Faith

1. What is the daily auto tipping charge per person? $10 per person per day and you can pre-pay them.

2. Does carnival have a soad or ulimited card like Princess? Yes...Believe it is $6 or $6.50 per day and you are allowed to bring a 12-pack of sodas/water per person in your carry-on.

3. Can you send yourself OBC? Yes..Contact Bon Voyage department.

4. We will sail out of Orlando. Have anyone done Disney or US prior to cruise? If so, what did you do for transportation? Not able to help with this but others will respond.

Enojoy your cruise!!

1) The standard automatic gratuity is $10/day/person. You can opt to adjust that amount, or remove it completely, through the folks at Guest Services.

2) Yep, there's a soda card available for purchase. The cost of the card varies with the length of the cruise, of course. For a 5 day it's $34.50 for an adult, $25.88 for 17 years old and younger. For a 7 day voyage it's $48.30 for an adult and $36.23 for under 17. The reason for the odd pricing is that at 15% gratuity is included.

3) You can purchase 'Fun Ship Dollars' through the Bon Voyage department. You can find the link on Carnival.com. Alternatively, you can call them at 800-906-7603 and purchase OBC. You'll need your booking number, name of the ship you're sailing on and the date of embarkation.

4) Sorry... can't help you with Orlando.

We went to Disney for a few days before our May 2009 cruise on the Monarch. We used FLL tours. They picked us up at Pop Century and took us to the store and then to the pier. You tell them what time you want to be picked up. We had a van to the pier and a towncar after cruise to the airport. My husband and I have also used Cocoa Beach shuttle from the airport to the pier. Both companies were on time.

If you stay at a Disney hotel, they will provide free transportation to and from the Orlando airport Via the Magical Express. This is a Disney tour bus that runs every 20 minutes from the airport. You must let them know when you book your room that you will be needing this service. It is really worth the money to pay a little extra to stay at a Disney hotel just to get this service as a taxi from the airport to the Disney hotels can be a little pricey. You can pick up a value hotel at Disney for under $100 it is around $85 if you have AAA. These prices or course may change due to the time of year, but it will still be a value. The value hotels are Pop-Centruy, All Star Movies, All Star Sports and our favorite All Star Music. All Star Music has family suites that include a small kitchen area and 2 bathrooms. All of the hotels offer transportation to the parks so that's not a worry. They also offer moderate price hotels and full service hotels. $$$

Are there any nice hotel around the port? Tons of nice hotel in Ft. Lauderdale was hoping Port Carn. has the same. Any suggestions?

We stay at the Radisson in Port Canaveral - decent room, ok price, nice pool and free shuttle to the pier.
