Amtrak/NOLA/????

We are thinking of taking the Amtrak down to New Orleans. Does anyone know where the station is located? We would be coming down a day earlier, so we would want a hotel for the night before the cruise.

 

Any suggestions would be great.

I did see a train station, as I was coming out of french qtr, near where all the freeways come and cross together. Its not but a couple of miles from french quarter, cant be 5 miles to the port.

 

I think its doable with a taxi to a hotel.

The station is downtown

It isn't too far from the Holiday Inn Super Dome which has a shuttle to the port and other places or there are maybe 35,000 other rooms available within a few miles, including the French Quarter, the Warehouse and Convention Center areas, etc.

Just went on the train this weekend. It is next to the dome. It was 11.00 taxi to town. It was only 10.00 going back.
