wildcatt99 Posted February 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2011 We're sailing on Liberty in 3 weeks, purchased insurance with TravelLite. If one of gets sick on the ship, or any other medical emergency, do we have to pay the bill and get reimbursed or does Carnival accept the insurance as payment ? Thanks! sparkscruiser Posted February 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 12, 2011 All the ones I have used have required payment to the cruiseline and reimbursement from the insurance company. Oddly, never had to use it - but glad to have it in case I do!
FamilyMiracle Posted February 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2011 You pay it (it gets added to your sign and sail bill) and then you get it back from the insurance company once you file a claim.
klfrodo Posted February 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2011 To clarify FamilyMiricle. If you are treated on the ship in the ship infirmary, the cost will be added to you S&S account and you pay the bill, then file for reimbursement from the insurance company. If you are treated by another physician in another country, it depends on that countries policies and procedures. However, it is highly likely that you may have to put up a deposit of some such amount to guarantee payment prior to any emergency medical services being performed. In instances such as this, SOME insurance comapanies will work with the hospital and provide a one time cash advance (if you will), to get care started. Once stabilized, it will most likely still be up to you to satisfy the final bill before discharge and then file for reimbursement from the insurer.
