Westerdam or Zaandam

We are looking at taking a cruise on either the Zaandam or the Westerdam. What is the feedback from people who have been on both classes of ships? We are a couple in our late 40's and have cruised on most of the other cruise lines but not HAL. We will be booking a balcony and just want any input from previous passengers.

We liked the Zaandam better, mainly because of size and number of passengers.

 

Food, service and everything else was pretty well the same.

Though I have never been on board the Zaandam, my sister works for HAL aboard ships and has been on them both. She prefers the Vista Class ships (Westerdam, Oosterdam, Zuiderdam, and soon the Noordam) compared to the others. We were on the Westerdam in December and absolutley loved it. There is something about being on a ship that is only 1 1/2 years old. Everything is so new and luxurious. Good luck making your decision. What ever you decide I feel you will be happy, as HAL is a wonderful cruise line to cruise with!

We liked the Statendam better than the Oosterdam, so I vote for the Zaadam.
