Hello, we are flying into Ft Lauderdale a day before our cruise. We will probaly spend the night either in Miami or Ft Lauderdale, whatever is easiest. Is it cheaper to rent a cab from FLL to POA or some kind of shuttle. There are 2 adults, and 2 teens in our party. Thanks for all your help!

We always fly into Fort Lauderdale and use SAS shuttle service to get to Miami....very good service and cheaper than a cab. You can go to their website and make a reservation they will e-mail you back and then you pay when you get to the airport....very easy. They will take you to your hotel in Miam....just give them instructions of what you need....can also book RT so they pick you up after the cruise.

We are using SAS shuttle. Rate is $13 per person as long as you have at least 4 people. Their website is ridesas dot com

We also fly into Ft. Lauderdale a day early for a sailing out of Miami. We are staying at the Embassy Suites on 17th in FLL. SAS will pick us up the morning of the sailing and take us to POM.

Wouldn't a cab be cheaper? Isn't it about a 15 minute drive?

No and no.

Last time I took a cab from FLL to POM, it was about $80. That was a while ago and I'm sure it would be more now due to fuel prices.

It's about 45-60 mins. depending on traffic.

We have rented a car and we have stayed in FLL and used SAS. The car rental was a hastle. We had to take shuttles from the airport to the port and the port to the rental place and the wait at the rental place after the cruise was over an hour plus with everyone just off the ship trying to get a car.

SAS was easy. They picked us up on time at the hotel. Delivered us in 1/2 an hour to the port. Afterwards they had us call when we got through the port authorities and they were right there to pick us up and return us to the hotel in 1/2 an hour.

It was just slightly more for the 4 of us to use SAS than renting a car, but well worth it IMHO. We will using SAS again when we cruise on the EPIC in December.

We are also using SAS. We are flying into and staying overnight in Fort Laudersale. Our flight is coming in at 10:00 pm and I could not find a car service that would pick us up and drive us to a hotel in Miami that late. SAS is picking us up in the morning of our cruise and driving us to the Port of Miami for $13 per adult and $10 per child. I contacted many other companies and this was by far the cheapest.

You are either thinking about a cab from MIA to POM or from FLL to Port Everglades - both of those rides take about 15 minutes. As mentioned above the trip from a FLL area hotel to POM takes 40 or so minutes. Besides SAS (www.ridesas.com) QLS is another provider often suggested on these boards. Good luck! :)
