mjlajames Posted March 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2011 Does anyone know roughly what it would cost to take a cab from the cruise port in St. Thomas to Magens Bay ? Thought I might save some money over an excursion.
lljost Posted March 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2011 I don't remember the exact cost but a taxi will be much cheaper than an excursion. The driver will fill up the cab with whomever wants to go to Magens and quote a price per person. Plus there used to be a fee to get into Magens. Sometimes the cab driver will include this in the total cost of the fare. The nice thing about taking a taxi is that you can stay as long as you wish. When you get ready to leave there are plenty of cabs waiting to return you to the ship, town to shop, or whatever you wish. Do not pay for a round trip ticket. He may offer to pick you up at Magens but do not pay for the return trip until you leave the beach.

Thought I might save some money over an excursion. Taxi area at Crown Bay will set you all up, just tell them where you want to go. They fill taxis (safari bus) with anywhere from 12 - 20 and whoosh you off for a spectacular ride up, over and down to Magens. $9 ea way and $4 to get into Magens. Stay as long as you like and there's plenty of rides waiting to take you back whenever. Leave early enough and they can drop you off downtown for some shopping. You can grab another back to the ship later for $4.
