Yet MORE info on the Players Club promo letter

I just spoke with my PVP about the recent Ocean Players Club promotional letter and thought I'd pass on what he told me.

YES - the rates are better than Early Saver. I asked for prices on 3 fall cruises I'm considering and (including fees, taxes, etc.) rates were about 5% less than with ES.

YES - you still have price protection but ONLY until final payment is due. After that, you may be eligible for an upgrade but no OBC.

Additionally, you may use these coupons on more than one sailing. As long as you book before April 30 when the coupon expires, you get a discount on multiple sailings, AND the deposits are fully refundable. So it is kind of like getting a better rate with the flexibility of cancelling and rebooking later if necessary---even into 2012.

As for existing bookings, he checked my April cruise (3 weeks...YAY!) and all aft cabins are sold out, so I don't get that discounted. However, he said it would get me a discount if I wanted to upgrade to a suite (but I wasn't interested).

So there you have it...yet one more tidbit for those who got the letter and hadn't yet called. :)

do they have a list of who got the letter? I'm curious that everyone is putting it out here about letters, whats to stop someone from calling and saying, hey, I got a letter and getting the 25% off. Is there a code on the letter?

As soon as your Past Guest number is plugged in by a travel agent (and I assume a PVP), there is a note with the offer and appropriate fare code.

...and FYI, do call your PVP or travel agent. I found the people at the number listed to be a bit rude (two different people) and much more restrictive with their terms. I believe the phone number listed goes to a 'casino promotions' department and they seem much less interested in helping than a PVP would be.

Were just useing our casino cash certificate, we both got one. The rest of the package didn't do a thing for us. We could do better without the % off they wanted to give us. You must start at the reg price then they give you a % off. It say up to 25% very few will get 25% off. They only would give us 12% Got a better deal with the 55+ rate.

Wow! That surprises me since ES is usually less than the senior rate. So take a percentage (any percentage) off the ES rate, and you beat that with a senior rate? That's awesome! :)

Again I will say for those of you that got the 25% off with the Early Saver rate PLEASE check and see what rate you are now because I've talked to 2 different people and they both said You can NOT have two rate codes for one booking~ so if you started out ES and called about the 25% off you are now NOT ES~

Maybe I missed something but where did this letter come from? The mail, email, etc. My husband & I always notify Ocean Players Club when we cruise (2-3 time a year) and we spend a "boat" load of money in there. We didn't get any kind of letter. When did you get it?

Thanks for the help

Recieved the letter in the mail~ I've heard that there was no rhyme or reason on how they picked who got the letters~ just a luck of the draw thing~ sorry, wish I could give you mine as we aren't using it~

I started out with early saver (779.00 pp balcony 8d)

now with this promotion my rate is 629.00 pp moved up to 8k extended balcony. I am now under what they call vip casino promo

Pam

Sounds like you got lucky. I just called my PVP. She told me that you do not get 25% off early saver. The 25% is supposed to be off the "regular rate". She said that she would check it out for me and put the casino code in for our Freedom cruise this December.

It brought the price down from $879 to $839.

Today I called the promo line on the letter and first confirmed that I could use the voucher on my upcoming cruise that has been fully paid. It was only booked about a week ago. Second I inquired about the 25% discount and the representative checked and told me yes I could have the discount on my room that was under past guest/senior discount. She credited my son who paid for the cruise $240 for my room and said the money would be returned to his credit card. She then sent me new papers showing the new rate and the original amount paid so the difference of $240 would show. I am waiting now to hear from my son when the credit shows up on his credit card. I really did not expect them to honor the promo and was very pleased. Between the $240, my voucher and the Premium Gift to be in my room on sailing, it appears they have given me $350-$400. I got the gift once before on our cruise and it was a lovely basket and contained fruit, wine, cheese, crackers and picture voucher.

I hope everyone will have the same good luck as I did.

Can't wait to sail - Carnival Dream - 5/28 - here we come.

How does the $899 compare to what is on Carnival's site?

I read on another thread that people have called OCP and asked and have found out they were eligible. I tried but I wasn't eligible :(. Maybe you should give them a call and double check. It may be worth it. I'm at least getting some chocolate covered strawberries and a free picture coupon...so worth it to me even though I would have preferred the 25%. Good Luck

It was $100 pp more on the website

Then it was something off the price. I thought maybe you meant their quoted price was more. :o

If it's more $$ than you've ever paid for an 8E, that must mean it's a more popular sailing or longer itinerary or something. Oh well... at least you had an opportunity to get something discounted. :)

just curious I am a past guest who enjoyed the casino on our last cruise. Do any of you know if I might be eligible to have received a coupon? Is it okay to with CC if I ask for the phone number to call and check?

Thanks for the help.:o
