is 130pm too late for 500pm sail?

On my first cruise I arrived in Miami about 1:15 for a 5:00 departure. Every thing went smooth and I was on the ship about 2:15. That being said, I wouldn't do it again, because you really are taking a chance.

I hope you're going during a good time of year, because if you're going in the winter, or during hurricane season, you may have a problem...

As a TA I ask my passengers to try to fly in the day, or night, before a cruise.

Then, sleep in, do a bit of sight seeing or shopping, have lunch & go onboard around 3:30 -4 pm for a 5pm sail away. (That time frame seems to be a "walk right in" time with the earlier & later crowds not there.

Have a great time.

I agree with all the above, that is just cutting it too close and relying upon the travel gods to make everything just perfect. I'd fly in early that morning or the night prior. when I sailed out of Port Everglades, we came in the day before and rode around the water taxi for most of the day & started the next day with some beach time before heading to the port - it was definately a great way to destress before getting on board the ship.
