Cruiseseeker04 Posted April 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2004 I am going to be traviling by myself on a 7 day cruise Sept 4-11 either going to the bahamas or western caribbena, but have no idea which cruise would be the most fun. My airfare to either Orlando or Fort Lauderdale is already taken care of so all I need is a cruise. Here is what I am looking for in no particular order: 1. Very nice room with balcony or even a suite 2. Food 24 hours 3. Room Service 4. Casino 5. Nice ship 6. Fun I know that single goers get penalized because they have to buy the whole room themselves, but this is something that I think that I would really enjoy. I think that the area's off the bat that I am having problems with is which ship fits would fit me better and which type of room would be best for me. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it very much. Thanks, Cruiseseeker04
saw1953 Posted April 6, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 6, 2004 My preference would be the Western Caribbean. A balcony room should be fine for one person. All ships have 24 hour room service and a casino. I would either do Carnival or RCI if you want a lot of activities. Rare Roz Posted April 6, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 6, 2004 You didn't mention your age or what kinds of activities you enjoy. HAL is pretty good about accomodating singles but tends to attract an older crowd. Both HAL and Carnival will often charge less than the 200% single supplement. In my experience, RCL won't budge on this. Roz
trish1c Posted April 6, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 6, 2004 We cruised that time last year. I can't help you w/ your choice but remember it's prime hurricane season. As hurricanne Isabel was bearing down I was VERY sorry I didn't have insurance. Trish
KY-traveler Posted April 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2004 I don't understand why anyone would pay the extra cost for a balcony room on a short cruise. If I want to see the sea, I go out on deck. I look at shipboard rooms like I look at Las Vegas rooms; I don't spend that much time in the room so why pay extra for more than a place to sleep a couple of hours? General Max Posted April 20, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 20, 2004 KY-traveler, you are missing the point. Its a first time cruise. Book the highest category cabin you can and enjoy. General Max
nlptes Posted April 20, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 20, 2004 hi - i'm a 50 y/o solo cruiser myself and love Royal Caribbean. You might want to look at the Mariner of the Seas. New ship with "all the trimmings" including ice rink, mini-golf, rock-climbing wall... I'm on it with a group of fellow cc's the following week. The 9/4-9/11 would be the eastern carribean route. Definitely worth checking into! Nancy P.S. any ?'s on solo crusiing i can help, feel free to ask Mariner 9/12/2004 Heading south: Our "Parrothead" Site Monarch of the Seas 3/29/04 Costa Mediterranea 12/14/03 Sovereign of the Seas 9/21/
