lindy12 Posted April 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 22, 2011 I know, badly worded but couldn't think how else to word it. We are doing a Med cruise on Star Princess and will of course want to recharge our New Zealand purchased cameras etc. I will need to buy a 'converter' so what I'm trying to find out is, on board ship, what countries power points are used? I'm thinking probably US?
Rare Keith1010 Posted April 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 22, 2011 US for sure. You might want to post on the cruise line thread for the ship you'll be on to see if there are any european outlets. Keith
Happy ks Posted April 22, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 22, 2011 Most small electrical appliances (cell phones, computers, Ipods) no longer need to be converted, but you may need adaptor plugs. You would be wise to get some US plugs and I think some ships have UK outlets, can't be sure. You may want to use a plug with a surge protector if you are using it for a computer. I do think the safest bet would be to check each of your appliances that need to be plugged in and check each for conversion. A convertor converts the electricity and an adaptor plug merely plugs straight into the wall with no conversion. If you don't plug in correctly you can ruin your electronics.
