LaurieCM Posted May 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 5, 2011 When we were in Anchorage we stayed at the Captain Cook- one night we went to the Corsair across the street- a bit pricy, but the waiter was in a tux while we and other customers were casually dressed and the Chateaubriand was very good. At the Captain Cook we had the best oysters rockefeller we ever had- just fantastic.
Chenega Posted May 5, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 5, 2011 Wife and I are big fans of Simon and Seaforts (about one block toward the inlet from the Captain Cook hotel). One of the few places in Anchorage with a view and we've always had excellent food.
woolbug Posted May 5, 2011 #5 Share Posted May 5, 2011 :)Glacier Brew House is a good one and has, as the name suggests, some great beer choices too - http://www.glacierbrewhouse.com/ Simon and Seaforts for great steak and seafood - http://simonandseaforts.com/page/home Orso Italian with an Alaskan twist - kind of one of those 'fusion' restaurants, great ambience - http://www.orsoalaska.com/ and there are dozens of tiny little places along the street for quick eats too! Here is a list of food places in Anchorage I got from my travel agent who lives in Wrangell. check out their websites....YUM;)
Glaciers Posted May 5, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2011 These are my picks. Seafood Simon & Seaforts Steaks Club Paris http://www.clubparisrestaurant.com/ If you expect excellent service along with excellent food this is the place. Entrees are $30-40 range. Marx Brothers Café http://www.marxcafe.com/
AkSusan Posted May 5, 2011 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2011 All depends on what you like and if you'll have a car. As others have mentioned if you're staying dowtown, Simon & Seafort's, Glacier Brewhouse, Orso's, can also add the Snowgoose, the Muse (inside the Museum), Marx Brothers, Humpy's, Ginger, Club Paris. If you would have a car - Moose's Tooth, Bear's Tooth, Pizza Plaza, Guido's, Arctic Roadrunner! This is just a few of many fine places we have to eat here in Anchorage. Susan in Anchorage :)

Susan in Anchorage :) #1 Place we went to was Snow Goose. Great food, great beer, and great views from the back patio. We were lucky enough to see McKinley on two separate visits to the Snow Goose! I also recommend Glacier Brewhouse and Humpy's. Snow City for breakfast. We also ate at Sack's, which was good, but maybe not excellent. So I guess, scratch that unless you're there so long you run out of other suggestions. Enjoy!
mtnmusic Posted May 5, 2011 #9 Share Posted May 5, 2011 Fantastic food.. great location! Best of all, they have a First Seating 3-Course Dinner for $25 between 4:30 and 6:00 PM. You can see their complete menu at their website and make reservations online.
laughing husky Posted May 6, 2011 #10 Share Posted May 6, 2011 stop by the log cabin...the Anchorage convention and visitors center...pick up the restaurant guide...it is excellent....with some menus and prices. We have some of the best Korean and Japanese restaurants outside of those countries...Our fish makes wonderful Sushi and is very fresh...For most of them you will need a car but there are many around the downtown area. laughing husky Posted May 8, 2011 #11 Share Posted May 8, 2011 if you want some inexpensive food...stop by the Lucky wishbone. Their specialty is buttermilk battered pan fried chicken....and old fashioned malts and sodas...Great photos on the wall of old Alaska. Food is expensive in Alaska.....this is not...It is on 5th Avenue, not far from the downtown area...
