totally love the spirit class boats! but we have never left from nyc. what was weather like the first 2 days as you made your way down to the warmer climate? was the pool water ice cold?

Don't worry you'll have enough beer in you to keep you warm naked boy!!:p

My DS8 participated in Camp Carnival and loved it. He was mainly

there in the evening when they would have different parties and games. He made a couple great friends and cried this morning when we had to leave.

Awww, I think I saw him that morning crying! Was he wearing a baseball cap and crying walking through the hallway before the casino?? If it was him, I felt so bad! I said to my bf "aww look, he's sad to go too!" I really felt his pain! :(

It may have been him- I'm not sure! I think we were on the Lido when he was crying. He ran around the lido with a pen and paper trying to get all of his friend's phone numbers. He still gets sad when he talks about his friends. He said "We should ask them what cruise they are going on next and go on that one!". I told him he'll get to meet a whole new group of friend's on the next cruise. Breaks my heart :(

Great to read your review! It's so refreshing to see a nice review from a first timer. And even more to see someone that likes Nassau. Everyone puts it down, and I have always loved it.

Sounds like your first cruise was a good experience and I hope you look into doing it again!

We are already planning our next cruise! We were thinking Disney, but after having such an amazing time on Carnival I think we will not mess with a good thing. Plus, the prices can't be beat (most of the time)!

We can't wait for our Carnival Cruise on the Miracle. We have to wait until November, but it'll be our second time on The Miracle. This time to Aruba.

Have a great time! Can I sneak into your luggage? :p

Its always great to read a review from a "first-timer". No other cruise comparisons, no other cruiseLINE comparisons, just plain unabridged feeling about the whole event. Thank you.

I wish I could be a "first timer" all over again. . .;)

Glad you all had fun! We leave in two weeks! 16 days!

Great Review! We sail same ship, same itinerary on 8/26. I can't wait!!!:)

Can I come with all of you? Ugh. . .it was hard to return to work this week. I need to win the lottery and have a B2B2B2B2B2B2B. . .or a world cruise

Our family of 5 is heading out on the 8/2 sailing. I am so excited, I can hardly wait. We live in the Hudson Valley and it is about an hour to the port. It will be so great not to fly and deal with all the airport stuff. I love the Spirit class also!

Formal nights were on the first full sea day and the second to last sea day. Have a great time! We didn't eat at the steakhouse but went to take pictures. It is beautiful and at night looks very romantic!

I had booked a guaranteed inside room and was not assigned until we arrived to check in. We were given 4130- which was a French door room!! Nice little upgrade for us and I loved having it! The room was in great condition and our room steward Alicia was great. We never had to ask for anything.

My DS8 loved the waterslide. We had amazing weather, although leaving out of NYC we had one day out and one day back that was a bit chilly. Every other day was sunny and warm.

Our ports were beautiful!! I wanted to hide on Half Moon Cay and just stay there forever! We didn't do any excursions. Grand Turk we used the beach and rented a snorkel (the right side is much less crowded). Half Moon we ha another beach day. The BBQ was also great. Even with all the people there we never had to wait for a tender or food. Nassau we walked to the straw market, Fort Fincastle, and the Queen's Staircase. Nassau

is a beautiful city and the people are so friendly!

Are you serious!!! We were in that exact same room April 4-12! I took the sofa bed. We really enjoyed that room. It's so nice to get fresh air and sunlight for an inside price. Plus, it's a full 185 sq.ft. room. I know; I measured. We had picked that room under the Early Saver rate way in advance. It was always quiet, and in a good location to get to anything on the ship pretty easily. I'm glad you enjoyed your first cruise!:)

I am a waterslide fanatic! I always love Carnival's waterslides. This one was in an odd location: my first back-of-the-ship waterslide. On all my other cruises, their more centrally located, above the main pool/tanning area. They are used more when they are there. I got to ride Miracle's over 100 times, since hardly anyone was ever on it.

Grand Turk & HMC are on our list for someday in the future. We want to go eventually. We did the same thing you did in Nassau our first time there.

We loved the room! I sat on the bed watching the ocean and didn't realize 3 hours had gone by! I didn't know if we would be in the room much, but after having the French doors I think we will book a balcony next time. The location was great though and it was VERY quiet! We didn't hear a peep from our neighbors or hallway noise.

I never used the slide, but my son was one of about only 5 people on it. He stayed there for about 2 hours going down again and again!

Grand Turk is great for snorkeling. DS8 snorkeled for the first time there and took a few fish pics. But if you do go, bring water shoes. The sand is hot and a bit rocky, and the ocean is rocky.

HMC is a must- it is so amazing! The sand is so soft and the water- there are not even colors to describe it! I always thought it would feel crowded after looking at other people's pics, but it never felt crowded. I want to go back!!

Ahhh, you are hooked. You might want to look at the Pride out of Baltimore. The Pride is a Spirit Class ship just like the Miracle. It might give you some options without having to get to Florida first.:)

Pride would be good idea out of Baltimore and if you go in the spring you can go down a day early and catch an Oriole game. Camden Yards is such a SUPER ball park and the whole area is just so great. Only thing is that the Pride does 7 day sailings and believe me, that extra day sure makes a difference! :D We always cruise from NY in May...waiting for schedule to come out too. Getting aggravated!!!:(

The Pride out of Baltimore is one of the cruises on our "maybe" list. I am not too thrilled with the ports but I know we will love the ship. I told DH what ports it was and he said, "I don't care where we go as long as we cruise!". I do love that the Pride has 3 sea days- we loved our sea days!

I know- it was silly of us to pick an 8 day from the start! Anything else will seem short! But I will always take a 7 day vacation over no vacation. I loved leaving out of NYC though and seeing some of the city the day before. I really hope they release the schedule next week because my deposit money is burning a whole in my pocket- I need to book something!!

I never thought this thread would still be going! I am going to try to get a few pics posted today.

BLAHHHH....I have after cruise blues and it breaks my heart that the ship has sailed without me....:( Wonder what happened to Capt. Volpi. I really liked him. He was always mingling with the pax. Tendering to HMC: you have to go to the theater to get a ticket. We are platinum so we automatically got on the next available tender but there was hardly any wait for anyone. I honestly can't remember exactly how long it was, but maybe 10 minutes??? Be sure to sit on the lower level of the tender. We sat on the top and the sun is HOT! Also, we went about 10am and came back to the ship about 2. We had no wait for tender or long lines getting back on the ship. Worked out perfectly.

I'm waiting for the May, 2012 cruises out of NY. See every other port of embarkation posted, but nothing for NY. This was our 3rd trip on the Miracle and tho we LOVE the ship, I kind of hope they put a different ship here next year so we can have a little variety!

Captain Volpi is on the Spirit until he retires which is soon....CCL has a policy about captain's retirement age.....Dennis
