Self Tour Atlantis w/o buying tix?

All these costs to Atlantis are crazy...can people walk around Atlantis and see enough without paying to get into anything? What can be seen without buying any of the packages offered?

Well I guess it really depends on what you want to see but for us, we just wanted to see Atlantis itself..we didn't care about using the beach or waterslides.

On Pride last week, we took the water taxi over to Atlantis late afternoon and walked around the shopping village where they have lots of pricey stores  After that we went inside and checked out the lobby area and spent a few hours in the casino. I know there are aquariums (diggs) that you can pay to view but like I said, we just wanted to see the hotel itself. Our only costs were transportation to and from Atlantis.. we both did ok in the casino and were up somewhat when we left. ;)

As hancogran said, you can check out the lobbies, casino and marina village shoppes, but you can't view the aquariums, sealife, lagoon, gardens or enter the pool/waterpark grounds. Nor can you get to the beach.

If you are just wanting to see the hotel lobby etc, then take a cab or water taxi for $3/4 pp. and look around.

Be aware that if you have children, they are NOT allowed in the casino (they can walk thru on the main aisle only.)..

Also.. I wouldn't take my kids here as a "tease" and not let them enjoy the grounds. it would be cruel.

there are some aquariums outside the main lobby that you can see for free but the Digg you have to have wrist band, along with waterpark and beaches. You can also take the city bus from the port for alot cheaper than the taxis, buses cost about $1.50/person versus taxi which is $25/trip.

hope you enjoyed it! Good to see the other sites in Nassau such as the Queens Staircase and the Forts (wonderful).

We got the water taxi to Atlantis and it was $3.00 per person and got a regular taxi back to the port at night and it was $4.00 per person.

I believe they have blocked off the free aquarium area now.

There are no buses or jitneys allowed on paradise island. You'll need to take a cab for $4 pp or the water taxi for $3.

the jitney you refer to is to Cable Beach.. not Atlantis. Cable Beach would run about $25 r/t.. but the jitney makes it very cheap.

Atlantis is nearby.. just a few bucks and your there.
