FLL Transportation Help

Recommended Posts

I am ready to book our flights, and by flying into FLL instead of Miami, I can save $50.00 per ticket...that's $200.00.

What is the best way to get from FLL to a Miami Hotel? There will be 4 of us with 6 pieces of luggage and 4 carry ons.

I am just trying to figure out if it is worth the savings if we have to travel farther.

Any info on the cheapest way would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Ollie

Depending on where your hotel is in Miami you have landed about 25 to 30 miles away. I suspect that most if not all of your flight saving would get eaten up by taking a cab or a limo/transportation service. But here is a link with some of them from the area.

What you might be able to do is rent a car and drive from FLL to your hotel in Miami and then turn the car back in the next day when you get to board your ship. Most car rental places will take you from their office to the ship in a van. Depending on the car type, you will need something with a good sized trunk for you luggage and seating for everyone.

Wish I had a better idea but those are the only ones that come to mind.

Good luck and have a great cruise.

Take it from a local... Tri-County transportation and Larry's Limo are 2 of the best, most reliable in town. The "cheapest" would probably be Tri-County's shared van service, you can enter the number in your party and amount of luggage on their website and get a price...

We used Larry's Limo last year with 5 of us, and luggage to match! Larry put us in a stretch limo (beautiful) and it was $90 from FLL to Hyatt Regency Downtown Miami. That included the tip, also. Maybe with 4 you could use a Lincoln Towncar, which might cost a little less. Give him a call, and he will let you know the best size/price. We have 8 going the same route FLL to Miami DT, on April 1st, and he suggested a 16 passenger van. I heard FLL is a better airport to navigate than MIA, so that is a bonus!

We rented a car at FLL (nice airport) and drove to Miami. There were three of us, the car was cheaper than a shuttle or cab and gave us some mobility which was nice. However the drop off and car rental shuttle to the pier was horrendous both pre and post cruise. I can't remember now how much the savings was to fly into FLL, but I might rethink the whole thing if I did it again.

If you fly in early(hours or days) it is so easy to rent a car! I have rented from Alamo in Ft. Lauderdale at the airport and dropped off in Miami airport with no drop off fee. Have also done the reverse with no drop off fee. Plus there is a free shuttle to the pier at both locations.

I have also used Priceline in Ft. Lauderdale with great success(downtown 3*).. you can get on the water taxi at the Marriot Marina plus you can see the ships (ask for this view)! I know others have used priceline in Miami with the same success.

Keep in mind though the traffic if you stay in Ft. Lauderdale. It took us 90 minutes to get to Miami airport leaving at 7:30am from Ft. Lauderdale.
