Just off the Allure May 22nd

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Just enjoyed my 8th cruise. 1st onboard the Allure of the Seas.

I'm gonna run down some of the basics.

Park cafe is great for breakfast and lunch and it is rarely crowded. They really do have an amazing Roast Beef sandwich. We headed there right after boarding. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome.

Sorrento's Pizza was good and the create your own is worth the wait. Open till 3 am was really nice since we were up drinking all night.

Alcohol on board:

Prices were very good. We headed up to the Sand bar on deck 15 and met Henry the bartender there. We asked for the Beer cooler special. Buy 8 beers and get the cooler for free then buy 7 beers after that and get the 8th beer free each time. We mixed our cooler with Corona and RedStripe. It cost $45 the 1st time and $38 each time after that. Tip was included but I always added more. We filled our cooler up everyday and brought it back to our cabin and our Room Attendant filled it with ice all day long and kept our beer cold. Thanx Erica

Ok here is some more Basics.

Chicago was a good show, Blue Planet was awesome, OceanAria was awesome.

The comedy show was fantastic. Our Favorite comedian was Craig Carmean. The comedians work for one cruise only so the show changes each week.

An absolute must is the Quest Adult Game Show. Most fun show ever. Be prepared to laugh.

Our Cruise director was ken Rush. He was excelent.

My favorite person onboard, besides my girlfriend, was Andre Miller from Jamaica. He was the Bingo Guy, he was in most of the parades, he was everywhere. He was even dancing in the night clubs. Andre really made our cruise. He would always make sure to say hi to us and knew our names by the 2nd day. Thanx Andre

Ok, some more food.

Promenade cafe was really good too, We ate at Giovanni's Table and that was excelent. we also ate at Samba Grille. That was excellent too. We did the fiesta night at Rita's Cantina and were very disappointed. The food was just ok, and the drinks were good but not great.

By the way, RR's were no problem. Luggage was at our room very quickly.

The Boardwalk Dog House was great. All the Hot Dogs and Sausages were excellent.

Johnny Rocket's had good breakfast. Free

WindJammer cafe is the same as usual. There are so many choices for food that you really don't need to eat there everyday. We ate there only once.

The wipeout cafe was great for quich food while sitting at the pool.

Another one of our Favorite people on board was the Sippy Dippy guy (A.K.A. the Vitamin Doctor). He was a bar servers on the pool deck. He was HILARIOUS. We ordered drinks of the day from him just because he was so awesome. He made our Pool activities perfect.

The "Chair Hogs" really were never an issue. We always had pool side seats.

I recomend the Infinity Hot Tubs near the Solarium. They are never crowded and have flat screen TV's. Good Times.

I recomend going to the 70's Disco Parade on the Promenade Deck. Lots of fun. Best place to stand is right next to the Cupcake Shop. The dancers and Action is right there. They also throw out Flashing Rings.

I recommend the On Air Bar. Go there and send out a video postcard via Facebook. it's free and no one is ever there.

One of my Favorite things was the fact that they made it a point to show the NBA playoff games. It was played in a few different places. The Night that Miami Beat the Bulls to go to the Finals, they showed the game on the back of the Ship in the Aqua Theatre on the 2 Ginormouos Screens. What a way to watch My Miami Heat advance to the Finals.

The Rock Walls, Flowriders, & Zipline were awesome. Hardly a long wait ever.

The Love and Marriage Show was fantastic. They only have the Show once same goes for the Quest show. Both are must see's.

I reccommend getting to the shows about 30 mins early as the seats fill up fast.

Sorry for the lack of pictures.

There was so much to do and enjoy that I did't take pics or even use my camcorder.

Sounds like a great time! Thanks for the report! Sorry to hear your opinion of Rita's. It's one of the things I was looking forward to. Is there a limited menu or buffet for the fiesta? Is it different other nights?

Rita's was good, just not great like the rest of the food on the ship. The margaritas were good as well. The food was bought out in courses. 1st was chips and salsa. The salsa seemed a bit grocery store-ish to me. 2nd was some chicken flautas and quesadillas and shrimp flautas and quesadillas. The Fajitas were very filling but kinda had that pre-made in a bag ready to microwave taste.

Quest is basically an Adult Scavenger Hunt. It works in sections. Each section will have a female and a male team captain. Then the Host will ask for certain items. The scoring is done by the team number that you are given. The team captain will have to bring whatever item to the host and the team number and the Host will call ouo the number that he sees 1st and so on.

Examples of items in the hunt are: 1st male wearing lipstick, 2 womens bra's not being worn, etc...

For the most fun, get there early and if you want to participate, then you need to get there early and sit in the 1st few rows and I recommend sitting on the side of the auditoruim. Its a quicker access to the host.

One item from the May 22nd Allure Cruise was 1st person down to the front wearing a thong, and not a sandal thong. Well, noone from section was going up so I ran up, dropped my pants, and made my boxer briefs into a thong by pulling them straight up my you know what.

All in all, our team won. We had an excellent team captain.

Strongly suggest that children not attend.

My wife and I just got off the same cruise and I agree with pretty much everything you said. There is no reason to go in to the Windjammer as there are so many places to grab something to eat in a more relaxing area ( Park Cafe, Johnny Rockets, Promenade Cafe, Sorrentos)

We loved Giovanni's Table (ate there twice) but were disappointed in Rita's Fiesta. The appetizers served were deep fried and very greasy and the fajitas tasted like Chinese Food more than Mexican. The atmosphere was fun though. The Dog House and Ice Cream Shop on the Boardwalk were also excellent.

There were some chair hogs by the beach pool and the 30 minute rule was not being enforced. However, I never had a problem getting chairs by the pool even on the crowded sea days.

Entertainment was great ( loved Ocean Area, Comedy Show and Blue Planet) This was the first cruise that I never once had any desire to go into the casino because there were so many other things to do in the evenings!

There were a couple of Sippy Sippy Time servers by the pool. I know the Vitamin Dr. you are talking about but there was another one that would scream " Sippy time, So delicious!!" that my wife and I would get a big kick out of.

We had a great time and I am already looking to book the Allure next Spring

Oh so that was you! That had is laughing as did the guy who decided to grin and bare it. :D

I purchased the cruise DVD just because Ken said the QUEST Show was going to be on it, but I didn't even see a mention of it when I played it today.. very sad as it was the only reason we purchased it.

Boarding Sunday, let's hope the weather clears up in the western Caribbean or we'll be going to different ports!

We're boarding Sunday as well, where are you getting your weather forecast? That does not sound promising.
