Will be on cruise from Sydney - Honolulu 18 nights 4 stops in Tahiti.

I know the weather in Sydney for the cruise time will be delightful temperature wise was in Sydney on 07 in February do remember some rain. Was in Tahiti in July in the 1980's weather was ideal summer weather. Are cruise will be traversing the Pacific in the wet / storm season anyone care to elaborate on this some please as well as humidity and temperatures at sea?

Might we see some ruff water / ride?

Especially for Tahiti and all the days at sea will we get quality deck time being the the ship has no enclosed deck area around or over the pools?

Smooth Sailings

What ship are you taking ?? Check the HAL website -- from there

you can find out more details about the ship's deck plans including the pool area.

Not sure, but I believe all the ships have the retractable roofs over

the main pool area so you should still be able to enjoy the area.

Thanks for your reply.

Actually on a competitor cruise line Celebrity Century. This itinerary is not done that often on Celebrity. Figured since HAL does the Pacific Crossings more often more possible replies from past cruiser's who have t been in the Pacific around the time from of my trip.

Smooth sailings,

We came back from the south pacific on the Rotterdam in late January 2010 - 6 sea days - great sunny weather every day and on 2 days the sea was dead flat calm - not a wave on the water.

We cruised Hawaii/French Polynesia including Tahiti in March of this year on HAL's Rotterdam. The seas were mostly mild with a few moderate days with some great swells, but nothing uncomfortable or bothersome. We actually found the ship's motion very soothing. It depends on how good your sea legs are. Some folks wore seasickness patches every one of the 30 days, while we commented about how pleasant and smooth we found the whole trip. To each his own.

Weather was perfect allowing lazy sea days spent suntanning in bathing suits, and shorts and t-shirts/tank tops in port. We had 17 sea days, and there were only a couple of days outside of San Diego where we needed a sweater. We had a couple of days where there was a quick tropical downpour, but we just ducked under cover for the 5 minutes involved.

Humidity was not a problem for us, but there were a couple of people who complained about it. We found most of the people who found it an issue didn't tolerate heat well, or had breathing issues to start with.

Overall, we found March was a very pleasant time for us to cruise the Pacific this year. But please remember - weather can change drastically from year to year (or even week to week). There are no guarantees that what we had this year will be the same as 2012. From the research I did before our cruise, we thought the odds were pretty good in our favor for a pleasurable experience, but we were quite prepared that anything could happen, and we'd take whatever we got.

Fortunately for us, it was awesome and we are quite prepared to repeat the experience in the future. We hope you have smooth seas and dry skies. :)
