French mani/pedi- Cheap looking????

I am considering going back to acrylics but I am VERY fussy about my acrylics. No one can know by looking at them that they are fake. They should be fairly short and look natural. I have to do them if I want any length at all but mostly because my nervous habit is to pick at my cuticles. I do not do that when I wear acrylics.

;) I LOVE getting my American Manicure, it's a really natural version of the french manicure. Everyone think my nails are natural unless I mention it, then they are surprised. I get a shorter sport length and my manicure lasts for up to 3 week and by then I'm overdo for a fill. I'm an artist and have to do consultations for interior designers and business owners, green or blue paint stained in my cuticles just won't do for this, and I don't like color on my nails. The American looks fresh and natural and the paints wash off my hand in a snap.

The American is applied just like the french but uses more natural lighter colors with a top coat that mellows it all out. No glowing white finger tips just natural looking nails.

Just got my spring-fling manicure/pedicure this weekend. It's finally warm enough here that I broke out the sandals so I had to have my toes looking proper. Went for the OPI - Kennebunk port Red for the toes and OPI Bubble Bath for the fingers. I have my own nails and they are just barely above the finger tip line. I also have very naturally whites on the top of my nails, so when I get a pale pink like bubble gum it really just look natural, clean and fresh. Also doesn't show the chips as easily. As for the toes, I love a bold red. What I do after about two days is I put another coat of Sally Hansen Teflon Top Coat on. That seals the color really well and I usually get a good two weeks between pedicures. Manicures are still weekly though!
