Galveston Amusement Park Info

Can anyone from the Galveston area give an update on what's replacing the old Flagship hotel?? I had heard it was an amusement park, or something like that, and was wondering if that's still in the works. If so, how far along are they with the construction, and when is the projected opening??? Thanks for any information.:)

I drove by it the other day, and so far it was just a slab where the old hotel was torn down. Don't know what the plans are, but that's what I saw.

It is an amusement park. I am not sure when it is suppose to be completed, but I know it is not any time this year. I can hardly wait for it to open. It is suppose to have a roller coaster that goes out over the water.:D

It will be the Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier and is being constructed by Tillman Fertitta. It is scheduled to open in 2012 and will have amusements, restaurants and theater.

Thanks for the info.....I knew it was too good to be true that it might be open by our Dec. cruise date. Guess we'll just have to wait untill next years cruise. It sounds like it'll be fun!!!:)
