Balcony Guarantee vs. Junior Suite w/Balcony Guarantee

Recommended Posts

Would anyone happen to know what the difference is between a Junior Suite w/Balcony Guarantee and a Balcony Guarantee. What I am looking at is a Junior Suite w/Balcony Guarantee, but it does not show the JS as being either "Not avail for online booking" or "sold out". Is RC holding those back? , or is there an automatic upgrade to the next highest in category.....

What ship and what week?

What is the price difference between the two GTY's per person?

Knowing the price difference will really help in suggesting which one to pick.

But to make it simple, a Balcony GTY or X GTY will get you in aleast a balcony anywhere on the ship, could even be a nice upgrade all the way to the Royal Suite but not likely but you will have a balcony of somekind.

A Junior Suite Balcony GTY or a W GTY will get you in a Junior Suite or better, you will get a Junior Suite Category Cabin or higher.

If I knew what ship and date and after checking the availibity of cabins, I could give you a better guess as to what you might end up with.....but as in ever GTY you could end up on a crappy deck over the casino or some other public place which you might not like. Far forward on the ship or far aft.

You just never know.

The cruise that the question relates to only lists "Junior Suite w/Balcony Guarantee", and I have never seen that before. I've only seen the "Deluxe Balcony Guarantee". I think what she wants to know if she will get a JS or something higher. Sorry I can't get any more info from her at this time.

Yes, If she picks Junior Suite GTY, she will get a Junior Suite or higher, nothing lower.

If the price is right it's a good way to go over the Balcony GTY.

So there should be JS cabins left, even though they are not listed as an option. I think she said next level listed was a GS. That is what I couldn't explain. I guess I'm asking, do you think that RC has JS avail, but not showing them as selectable.

If the category code is "W", then that's a JS or better. Royal's website confusingly shows this as "Deluxe Guarantee", without using the word "suite". The website also used to list the square footage, which matched the JS description, but I just looked at a "W" category on Allure, and it no longer lists the square footage. Typical with the new website - give everyone less info.

If there are no JS's available and she books a JS guarantee, one of 2 things can happen.

She will get one of the available GS's or

C&A or revenue will upgrade someone already in a JS to the available GS and give your sister the JS that she paid for
