cruise'n Posted March 22, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2005 How does the slots tournament work? How much to you have to pay to enter? What is the usual win in the tournament? Thanks for eveyone's help.
mclaire Posted March 22, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2005 On NOS last month I joined the slot tournament. It was a $20 buy in. There were 30 participants for a total of $600. First place won $270 and second place was $117. That was it for the prize money. (so the casino got $213). There were 3 rounds of 10 players each and you just play a machine for either 5 or 10 min and the top ten high scores after the three rounds played a final round and they chose 1st and 2nd place. The top ten players got a t-shirt. It was fun. They only had one tournament for the week.
ckrobyn Posted March 22, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 22, 2005 I entered the slot tournament on the Radiance last month, it was $20 to enter and depending on the # of entries, determines the final prize payout. I believe the payout on this particular tournament was $800. You choose a card ( from a deck of cards) and your colour and your suit determines the order you will participate in the tournament. There were about 10 slot machines they were using for this tournament. When your card is called, you take your place at the corresponding machine ( they are labelled 2-10) and you have five minutes to rack up as many credits as you can.....at the end of the five minutes, the person with the most credits moves on to the next round, and so on.... If you don't qualify after your first round, unfortunately the tournament is over for you. I didn't win anything, but it was sure fun trying! :)
Marysunshine Posted March 22, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Even with all the cruises I've taken, I always miss things. Is the slot tournament listed in the daily compass???

junior8 Posted March 22, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2005 Hi, Just wondering if the 3 day Sovereign cruise has a slot tournament. Does anyone know?:)
cruise'n Posted March 23, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Thanks, everyone for the good information! Do you use tokens to play with? How many to you get for your $20? Is this "how fast you can play"?
Coralc Posted March 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted March 23, 2005 No tokens or coins involved. Machines are pre-rigged for continual play. You hit the spin reels button as fast as you can, and the machine with the most jackpots/point score/credits at the end of 5 minutes wins the round. Your wrist will get tired after 5 minutes of fast pushing on the button! :)
Penguin69 Posted March 23, 2005 #9 Share Posted March 23, 2005 DH and I played on EOS this past Sept. It cost us $20 pp and my DH actually made it to the finals. Anyone that makes it to the top finals automatically gets a real nice RCCL golf type shirt. I'm sure that cost around $20, so it was a win win but have fun situation. He didn't win however, but had fun. They actually had two on tournments on our trip (don't remember if it was because we spent an extra day at sea because of the hurricane or not, but). we both enterd again and both made it to the finals this time. So we got (2) more nice shirts. But this time, DH won 2nd place I think and brought home around $237.00 or so. You don't even have to know how to play a slot machine, just how to push you finger on the button for 5 minutes -real fast without stopping until the time is up. I remember one lady winning and going into the finals because of that VERY LAST HIT. She got triple black ties and earned like 5000 points or so. Palla Posted March 23, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 23, 2005 I won the slot tourney on the Voyager in 2002 and came in second in the tourney on the Adventurer in 2004. Will be trying again in a couple of weeks!
cruise'n Posted March 23, 2005 Author #12 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Oh, this sounds like too much fun! :D I think I will have to give this a try on our next cruise. ;) Do they have a limited number of people that can participate? Do you have to sign up early? Thanks again for the great info!
mclaire Posted March 24, 2005 #13 Share Posted March 24, 2005 Any number of people can sign up for the $20 fee. Actually on our cruise, someone paid $40 and did the first round and the third round. You just show up a few minutes before the tournament and when they are sure everyone who wants to has signed in then they will begin the tournament. It really is fun! Good luck!
