Makes me glad that we quit going to these events a long time ago. We have better things to do with our time.

The problem is - most countries don't have all the nationalistic feelings Americans tend to have. Where certain groups want to make everything a disrespect to the flag while the folks from GB proudly wear their Union Jack bloomers. :eek:

 

As for the Springsteen song - most folks outside my generation do not realize the background story of the song which -- is very representative of how many felt about our involvement in a certain conflict. I am also of a generation that remembers the Boss asking Reagan to drop the song - because obviously the folks in his campaign had no idea about the song other than the chorus.

I'd've likely been yelling at the flag holder to "Pick it up!!!!" That would have been followed by a fairly hot visit to the CR Desk. Hot but polite.
