When did this new rule start? I have always controlled my reservation until about 6 months out then transfer to a TA and get 10% onboard credit. I have a reservation for Jan 2013 that I booked in April 2011 that I can't transfer. Anybody have any luck dealing with Celebrity?

It was a while ago, around January if I recall. I was aware of it when we booked onboard this past February. You could cancel and rebook, unless you have booking incentives or don't want to risk losing your cabin. Otherwise, it would depend on the advantages either way.

I forget the exact date the transfer rule came out, but it was well before April of 2011 - so you are past the deadline for transferring a reservation. Unless your TA has a lot of pull with Celebrity it is unlikely you will be able to transfer at this point, but you can always give it a try - the sooner you try the better your odds, but do not get your hopes up.
