Dreamakermom Posted August 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2011 Do I not see a casino on the deck plan for the Ms Amsterdam? Is there a special name for it??? Is it big? Does it pay well? ;) Any thoughts or view points? I play video poker. Do they have that? I CAN go without it (especially on the 14 day Alaska cruise) but it would be fun to know it is there. Sorry about all the questions but I cannot for the life of me find it!!! Thank you!!!
jtl513 Posted August 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted August 12, 2011 It's on the Upper Promenade deck, port side, between the Atrium and the Hudson Room. The label is kinda hiding left of the Sports Bar. That's about all I know about it. DW plays the slots a little. :)
Krazy Kruizers Posted August 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted August 12, 2011 The Casino is located on the port side of the Upper Promenade Deck. When walking in from the Atrium you can't miss it as it is on your right side. Yes -- there were Video Poker Machines. Didn't hear of many winners on anything on our 14 day Alaskan cruise. Backstage Traveler Posted August 12, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2011 On the Zuiderdam they had some slot machines that were fairly busy - called More Chili and More Hearts. Otherwise, the selection of games seemed to be fairly limited and the casino was quite small. I never really saw a LOT of people in there, too much to see outside, maybe! Hope you get lucky! HamburgAvonLady Posted August 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2011 Correct me if I am wrong --- but isn't Alaska in the US waters --therefore, the casino will be closed when in those areas.

Typically leaving a port this takes about 1/2 hour, except from Inside Passage ports like Juneau and Skagway, etc where it may take a little longer. Also, when arriving at a port (say Ketchikan) around 2:00p, the casino will be open until about 1:00p.

gwilli Posted August 14, 2011 #9 Share Posted August 14, 2011 We were on the Ryndam this summer and had the best time in the casino! I usually play the poker machine, or any penny or nickel slot. On our cruise, the casino was empty most of the time which gave me a chance to try something new -- Three Card Poker. Give it a try. The staff will teach you. It's a lot of fun. I won the high hand tournament with three kings, my husband was second with a high straight. I also won the roulette tournament - give that a try for $20 and for a while was qualified at the black jack tournament. My husband was just as lucky winning the raffle the first night and lots of big cash wins at Three Card Poker. The casino was open while cruising the coastline and fjords in Norway, may be the same in Alaska. They don't want to lose that income! Cheers!
