Right now I have reserved staterooms 7000, 7002 for 4 persons. Would I be wise to switch to a sweet sixteen with all 4 of us in one stateroom enjoying the large balcony. 7002 is an extra large stateroom forward. 7000 is right next door. Price is similarfor both options. Would appreciate advice.

2 staterooms with two bathrooms and the extra square footage to move around when inside and the extra space to store things, trumps one stateroom with four people and a large balcony for me. You didn't say if it was four adults or two adults and two children.

Could you book one of the "sweet sixteens" and one of the less expensive cabins and share the balcony?

The balcony is not that big. I would definitely get two cabins instead of cramming four into one cabin. We often cruise with three adults in a cabin and that is cramped. If you all want to hang out on the balcony, one of you could pick the bigger balcony cabin - you don't really need to be right next to each other do you? But be advised - hump cabin balconies may be bigger but they still only have two chairs, and in most cases the room steward will not bring another chair in no matter what (some have had better luck - but it seems they have tightened up the rules on this lately). I can't remember if you said if this is S class or M class, but if the latter, you would be better off trying for a corner FV for four people. Still a bit cramped in the cabin for four, but a huge balcony.
