Advance Check-In for luggage?

Has anyone used the Advanced Check-In service for sending luggage ahead to the airport? Do you really need to reserve and pay ahead or are they there when you disembark?

Has anyone used the Advanced Check-In service for sending luggage ahead to the airport? Do you really need to reserve and pay ahead or are they there when you disembark?

 

We used it last year from the port in Miami. It was great. Our flight wasn't until 2 PM and they don't let you check-in your luggage too early so we'd have to sit around outside the TSA gates with our bags. Using the early check-in, we could go ahead through the TSA gates and find a nice spot inside to wait for the flight without worrying about our bags.

We used advance check-in last November when we cruised out of Ft. Lauderdale on the Miracle and we thought it was a great service and very much worth the price. No more searching for your bags in the luggage zones or dragging them thru check-in at the airport. We were on Delta. Does anyone know if Southwest Airline participates?
