Mailgirl Posted September 3, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2011 We will be in this port on 09/23 on Carnival we are only in port from 7 am - 4-pm. Can you walk into the city from the port or do you have to take a taxi or a shuttle bus to get into town. If you have to shuttle in how far is it from the port. I noticed there is a HOHO bus, I am trying to determine how long it will take to get to the HOHO bus. I tried doing a search on this port but only 4 threads came up. bobalink Posted September 4, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 4, 2011 I can't help you with the HOHO, but you may find the website, Europe for Visitors helpful. These links have information on Palma de Mallorca: http://europeforvisitors.com/cruises/reviews/port-of-palma-de-mallorca.htm and http://europeforvisitors.com/cruises/reviews/port-of-palma-de-mallorca-excursions.htm We were in Palma de Mallorca last summer. It is beautiful! We did the HAL cruise line excursion to Valldemosa to see Chopin's residence. We were there on a Sunday, so most of the shops were closed. Enjoy! You can walk, or you can take the cruise shuttle ($12/return), or the cheap and easy way is just take the local city bus (€2). Route #1 runs from the port complex (bottom left of the map) around downtown, and over to the airport (bottom right of the map). Just keep walking past the cruise shuttles and the busstop is right outside the area where the ship docks. Get off downtown, it's very walkable. local bus system: http://www.emtpalma.es/EMTPalma/Front/index.en.jsp bus system map: http://www.emtpalma.es/EMTPalma/Front/imgdb/235916.pdf
screwcork Posted September 4, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 4, 2011 Hi, we walked last month - it took about 30 min. to Hard Rock Cafe, and a litle bit more to the Cathedral. The distance was not a problem. However, the temperature was! In late September it should not be a problem! Screwcork

We took it a couple weeks ago with no problems. For navigating various parts of town, I highly recommend printing off the map from the link the poster above included. We had some issues with knowing where the other buses went, etc. and it would have been helpful to have had a copy of the bus map.
CruisingEh Posted September 9, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 9, 2011 You need to check where your ship will dock. We were there last month and our ship docked far from downtown, close to the castle. In our case, it would probably take an hour or more to get to the cathedral on foot. RCCL charged $12 pp for "unlimited" use of shuttles and they ran on schedules. We took a taxi instead. It was around 12 euros each way.
