1 night cruise to nowhere

Thinking of doing the 1 night cruise out of NYC in Feb. 2012 on the Gem.

Has anyone done the 1 night?

The info says its a 4pm sail - so what time do you think we could board the ship?

We've done many RC and Disney cruises, but this will be our first Norwegian. Anything we need to know...?

We love the 1 nighters. We usually arrive at the port around 11 and board by noon, though it can vary. We start out with lunch in the dining room to decompress (while everyone else seems to crowd to the Garden Cafe) and then enjoy every minute. They are very popular so tend to be crowded and everyone is trying to do everything in one night so just expect a big party. But if you want quiet, that is possible too. For instance, on several occasions we have chosen to eat in the Tex Mex restaurant which we enjoy but always seems to be very quiet on 1 nighters. Cagneys on the other hand can get so crowded that it loses some of its usual appeal.

Yes...do not plan on sleeping! Also, a one nighter is not a typical NCL cruise...everyone trying to pack everything in one day/night/morning. Lots of fun but you need to be in the mood for the fun.
