Stay in Denali or outside?

My family of 4 (kids 8 & 10) will be spending 2 nights in the Denali area next July. I'm interested in recent feedback for accomodations either in Denali or right outside, maybe Healy? As always, thank you for your advice - these boards are such a wealth of information!

The only, "inside" Denali Park is at Kantishna. The activies here, are varied and nature based. BUT, if wildlife is a priority, you are far better off being on the "move".

I suggest you take a look at the various lodge pricing, since it is Very costly at Kantishna. Check out the activity offers, naturalists, programs etc. The Skylon Lodge, in the past was the cheapest.

There are several places near the Denali entrance (named Glitter Gulch). But best options are in Healy or Carlo Creek about 10 miles away. Your choice will depend on what type of accomodation you're looking for and your budget ... lodge, motel, cabin, b&b.

A list from the Denali Chamber of Commerce
