Tamaracboy Posted October 28, 2011 #101 Share Posted October 28, 2011 When will HAL stop calling 'Superior Suites' suites? RCI do the same thing with their Junior Suites. With names like Deluxe Verandah Suite Superior Verandah Suite Deluxe Verandah Ocean View Staterooms No wonder new cruisers get confused. To some 'Superior' sounds higher than 'Deluxe' Added to the confusion with the names of their cabins, HAL also cause confusion with the terms Retreat Area (completely different meanings on different ships) Explorer's Lounge & Explorations Cafe Not to mention As You Wish Dining vs Open Dining Master Chef's Table vs Master Chef's Dinner And the names of their ships . The old Nieuw Amsterdam or the new Nieuw Amsterdam or the Amsterdam? Come on HAL - think of some more original names & words HAL, you got some splainin' to do ! ! ;) I've always wondered just what "Superior" suites were superior to  r. RuthC Posted October 28, 2011 #102 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Added to the confusion with the names of their cabins, HAL also cause confusion with the terms Add: Oak Room vs Oak Room---the two rooms serve an entirely different purpose on the Noordam and Prinsendam. And what a surprise to enter one, expecting the same as the other!

RuthC Posted October 28, 2011 #104 Share Posted October 28, 2011 I only know the Oak Room on the Noordam. What is it on the Prinsendam? It's a small room next to Java/Explorations Cafe, tucked between the Casino and the Internet Center/Library. There's a fireplace (non-working), a couple of easy chairs, and a desk where the port lecturer (also a different role from ship to ship ) can be found. The biggest difference is that on the Prinsendam, it is not a smoking room. On the Noordam it is a closed off smoking room.
