Sleep in and miss arrival?

One of the luxuries of vacation for me is sleeping in. But I don't want to miss any of the most beautiful port arrivals. My cruise includes stops at Malta, Trapani, Palma and Malaga. Which of those should I set the alarm for?

While Jane has a good point, there is something extra special about early morning arrivals. My choice would definitely be Valletta in Malta, much more special (IMO) than any of the others. The stone buildings and walls look lovely from the sea, and there are things to see on both sides as you come into the harbour. Sound as though you are on the Athens to Malaga cruise on Quest at the end of the month?

Def agree on Malta but would also suggest Palma. The cathedral is absolutely stunning , especially from the water & island of Mallorca is beautiful. We prefer the scenery there to Malta. Head into Palma & take the narrow gauge railway to Soller & then SF streetcar to Puerto Soller - easily done as a self planned tour. In Malta just walk around beautiful Valetta.

Have a great trip!

Agree on all of this - we did the train to Soller the lazy way, on the SB excursion, and thoroughly enjoyed it, but if you are up to organising yourselves then doing it via public transport (maybe you need a taxi from the ship?) would be great. Mallorca is more stunning than Malta, but Valletta is lovely to walk around. We are getting away a bit from early rising, but hope these tips from everyone may be helpful.

yes, lincslady, it's the Athens to Malaga cruise on Quest...leaving in 11 days! (Keeping fingers crossed that Greece remains open for business.) And yes, ma'am, all these tips are most appreciated. The "sleep in when I'm dead" mantra is easy to recite at bedtime; much harder to remember at 6am. But the sites y'all have described sound well worth the 'sacrifice.' Thanks, everybody!

I love arrivals. Somehow the beauty of the destination in the early morning light seems to bring the land a surreal appearance that much as I would like to, I simply can't sleep through. My husband and I were up early, even setting alarms on occasion, to catch the arrivals when we sailed the Paul Gauguin in the South Pacific. Some of my best photos of the entire trip are from those arrivals.

We will be boarding the Legend one week from today and I'm simply bursting with excitement!! Cameras are packed and charged!!:D
